Every time someone goes on about that Bob Gibson year (which was of course a great year), I try to point that shit out. League average ERA was probably under 3. Bunch of other guys under 2. Different time.

Pudge to be the first known steroid "cheat" to make the HOF "Allegedly"... I think he used, but no concrete evidence unless you just go by Canseco's book. Then again, one looks at that "Barroid" head prior to 2004 and you sure wonder.

Word. But as stated, no concrete evidence. Nope, but while he gets 1st ballot, Bagwell still waits with no concrete evidence either. IMO, that's largely based on a new focus on defense. Some guys have already gotten in largely due to their defense of course, but defense is the new wave of "emphasis" with a lot of these guys now. Obviously, it has benefited a guy like Pudge.

Too bad they weren't concerned about defense back when Frank White and Dwight Evans were on the ballot

Don't get me started on Trammell.

THEE greatest... It gives me absolutely zero pain whatsoever as a Red Sox fan to say that Barry Bonds was a better hitter than Ted Williams. I don't give a fiddler's fuck about how many steroids he did or didn't take. There was a two year stretch where NOBODY pitched to Bonds and he still averaged a HR once per every eight SWINGS.... not at bats... not at bats... a HR per every eight swings. When nobody threw him strikes.

Jason's Stark's ballot: no problem with it, except for this......you are obviously not taking steroids into account(Bonds, Clemens, Bagwell, Pudge.) that is fine. Ton of roiders already in. so 1) how do you not vote Sosa in there? lead MLB in HRs twice years(and those weren't his THREE 60+ HRs years) RBIs 3 times, Total bases 3 times, runs 3 times.....over his 9 year prime, he AVERAGED 49 HRs and 127 RBIs.
and 2) Mussina? no....never one of the games best pitchers....just a bunch of good seasons compiled. He belongs with McGriff, Biggio, Baines, Tommy John, etc.......

Why Mussina, but not Schilling? Why Bagwell, but not Sheffield? I think Mussina was better than Schilling and far more durable There wasn't enough room for Sheffield, but he should get in. I also think Walker should get in I don't think that either Mussina or Schilling has the numbers. Schilling's ERA and K numbers are better, Mussina's wins numbers are better (in the regular season obviously). If you like the wins so much, you must have been a Porcello voter.

I also think Walker should get in Does Schilling's postseason resume not help? Mussina was really good, just not quite HOF for me. I'd definitely put Sheffield in. He was an absolute terror. I think Walker gets hurt because of Coors Field, but he was a monster there.
