Colin Kaepernick went from sitting alone unnoticed during The Star-Spangled Banner to being noticed, to taking a knee with teammate Eric Reid during the national anthem with all eyes on him, to pledging $1 million to communities in need. His protest of racial inequality of the U.S. is now more than just symbolic, it's backed by his own money. After the 49ers' preseason finale against the Chargers on Thursday night, Kaepernick announced he plans to donate the first $1 million he earns this year to charities that help communities in need to further support the causes he believes in.
"I've been very blessed to be in this position and to be able to make the kind of money I do," Kaepernick said. "And I have to help these people. I have to help these communities. It's not right that they're not put in a position to succeed or given those opportunities to succeed."

Now I would love to comment on how I think he deserves to be their 3rd stringer now, at best.

Yeah, August 10th or something I think it would have gone unnoticed if not for the SF Chief of Police speaking up. I'm glad Kaepernick is at least having intelligent discussions about it and donating money. At least he isnt coming off like a dipshit in the media

He is doing everything that white trash loud mouth chick whose parents don't know how to spell or raise a lady said he doesn't do. People just want to see actions and get mad and offended. It's the look at me I am important world we live in. The SF chief of police shouldn't be offended by a term created almost 30 years ago. But I like the dialogue. I told y'all last year the protesting and even rioting would lead to more. This country is going to get better. It never would if people kept their mouths shut.

He got angry when I pointed out while he is judging flag etiquette, he wasn't facing the flag while the anthem played, so he disrespected the flag as well.

Is he going to get sued? Get arrested?
He just made himself marketable. He can create a t-shirt of him kneeling during the anthem and he will make millions.

Lol That shirt will be made in every swap meet/farmers market in the world, and he won't make a cent off it. He'll generate some revenue but it won't be enough to sustain the same lifestyle he is afforded from his NFL income. The money will be significantly less, and I imagine the revenue will have an extremely short shelf life. My guess is it will peak in about three months and then taper off until it is practically nothing in a couple years.
His real problem with generating revenue is that the black athletes with decent endorsement deals are typically also the best athletes on the field, and those guys will not jeopardize their endorsement contracts to support Kaepernick. Instead he'll get the Jeremy Lanes of the world that no one gives a shit about.

Agreed. So in the end, he won't make as much as he would if he was cut by sf and some turd team threw him a deal for a couple of years. So like I said, he will lose money off this.

I do not have a problem with what Colin is doing in the least.
Not saying I agree with it. But I do not have a problem with it.
I'd rather you do that than stand in the middle of the highway and block traffic or burn a corner store to the ground.

He is getting attention to his "cause" while not creating any violence, not disrupting any flow of society, and not costing tax payers any money for police/security.
He is pretty much doing exactly what we have all asked these protesters to do for a few years now.

He hasn't affected my life at all other than having to listen to my Julie-like Republican wife blabber a couple of rants.

I work in Newark, NJ - a city with a history of race riots. Every time there's a race related controversy in the US, there's a rally or protest in Newark. Luckily nothing has turned violent. I'm waiting for the day the protestors go all Milwaukee and beat every white person in the city. I refuse to be a victim of that bullshit. If they jump me by surprise then there isn't much I can do about it. But if I see them coming, they are going to get shot in the face with a .380.

Granted they'll likely throw you in jail for the "hate crime" of defending yourself. Probably. It's their world now. Maybe my arrest would make me a martyr and encourage more white people to stop docile politically correct pussies.

"what a dick"
Colin Kaepernick on Wednesday thanked the public for making his jersey the NFL's top seller after his national anthem protest and vowed to donate all the proceeds he receives "back into the communities."

Kapernick raises awareness for racial inequality, and writes a check to inner cities for 1 million bucks.
"Fuck that guy"
