Interesting list...............Jorge Soler has the potential to be the most club friendly deal we have seen in a long time...They locked up Rizzo to a similar club friendly deal And Rizzo sure looks legit. And, stupid me was not sold on him coming into last year. DOH!! Think the Players Union wasn't thrilled with the Rizzo deal For his production and market rate, it is like silly great for the Cubs

i posted some scouting reports on Tomas a couple of days ago........ I would be VERY careful throwing more than 25 mil at him...... Here is a list of Cuban signings in the last 6 years..........they seem to not miss on the studs......the top 5 are so far so good.......the rest of the list......not so much and consensus is that Tomas is a 'rest of the list' guy 1B Jose Abreu/CHW, 6yrs/$68M OF Yasiel Puig/LA, 7yrs/$42M OF Yoenis Cespedes/OAK, 4yrs/$36M LHP Aroldis Chapman/CIN, 6yrs/$30M OF Jorge Soler/CHC, 9yrs/$30M 2B Alexander Guerrero/LA, 4yrs/$28M SS Erisbel Arruebarruena/LA, 5yrs/$25M OF Leonys Martin/TEX, 5yrs/$15M RHP Miguel Gonzalez/PHI, 3yrs/$12M SS Adeiny Hechevarria/TOR, 4yrs/$10M OF Dayan Viciedo/CHW, 4yrs/$10M SS Jose Iglesias/BOS, 4yrs/$8M 2B Aledmys Diaz/STL, 4yrs/$8M Doesn't really account for the inflation of the Market though.

Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond rejected a seven-year, $107 million contract extension last offseason, multiple sources told The Washington Post.
The deal would have included the two-year, $17.5 million deal Desmond signed in January to avoid arbitration, meaning Desmond would have made $89.5 million over five would-be free agent seasons. The contract would have also included deferred money, decreasing its true value.
One industry source told The Post that Desmond would receive far more than $90 million over five seasons, if he became a free agent after 2015 with one more average campaign. In April 2013, Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus signed an eight-year, $120 million contract extension.
Desmond is expected to resume contract talks with the Nationals this offseason.
"There have been a lot of people that have come through this game that have sacrificed a lot for us, the players that are coming through now," Desmond said in March. "I don't want to sign a deal -- and this isn't to say they've offered me this -- but I don't want to sign a deal that is so bad that a future shortstop gets screwed because I signed a terrible deal. I'm not going to be that guy, that kink in the chain. I'm going to get a fair deal, or I'm just going to wait.

if he wants to win, he would be foolish to not want to sign with the best team in the AL. The Mariners are quietly in on Lester. There is a rumor floating around that Seattle will trade Michael Saunders and Tijuan Walker to Atlanta for Justin Upton, who recently took Seattle off of his no trade list. The second phase of this scenario would be to give big bucks to one of the FA pitchers. Lester makes the most sense since he is a local guy but I think they like Shields too. I thought Vmart was ideal for Seattle, but if they cant bolster the offense, they should add Lester or Scherzer, and just pitch the living shit out of teams

They have two excellent young pitchers and a couple more who are solid end of the rotation types. They need someone reliable to hand the ball off to in late innings. Robertson could be as much as a 5-6 game swing for the Astros.
