The Tigers have re-signed designated hitter Victor Martinez, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.
The deal has been agreed to, and is pending a physical. Martinez will make $68 million over four years. The 35-year-old was said to have drawn plenty of interest from other teams over the past couple weeks, but ultimately decided to remain in Detroit. Martinez is coming off a season in which he hit .335/.409/.565, with 32 home runs, over 561 at-bats.

good luck with that
New York Yankees free-agent closer David Robertson turned down the chance to have the highest closer salary for one season in baseball history. Now he has his eyes on the largest contract ever given to a reliever.

good luck with that New York Yankees free-agent closer David Robertson turned down the chance to have the highest closer salary for one season in baseball history. Now he has his eyes on the largest contract ever given to a reliever. Only takes one team. I had a feeling all season long that this was going to be what happens. And any player that is 30 years old or older, they probably should decline the qualifying offer because at that stage of your career, you want the multi-year security and not a one year payday.

Will your team hurry up and sign Panda so the Sox can't? Lol, I'm completely insure whether I want him back or not (only because of scary contract demands). Giants television play-by-play broadcaster Duane Kuiper is concerned. Kuiper joined KNBR 680-AM on Thursday morning and weighed in on the Sandoval rumors. "I'm always worried," Kuiper said. "I dont like to see our guys visit other towns. It's kind of like your girlfriend saying 'I need a break for like a month.' "That's how I feel about Pablo. I don't like him visiting other towns. It's like he's cheating on us."

Cubs talking to Martin Cubs and Dodgers make a ton of sense I think the Cubs are the ones that lay out the big bucks for David Robertson also I also think they acquire Cole Hamels in a trade, while still being in on one of the big 3 FA pitchers

Nice little pickup of Cervelli by the Pirates considering they are losing Russ Martin BigD, what ya know about the arm the Yankees got back? He is your basic designated left handed lefty killer bullpen arm. And, at 27, he is not likely to get any better or different going forward. As far as specifics, he is prone to the walk, hence his elevated ERA.

I have also heard the Padres attached, but, I can't imagine they would win a bidding war, against, well, anybody.

However, if I were Martin, I would make sure they paid me extra for getting rid of me in the first place. But, that's just how I roll....

i posted some scouting reports on Tomas a couple of days ago........
I would be VERY careful throwing more than 25 mil at him......
Here is a list of Cuban signings in the last 6 years..........they seem to not miss on the studs......the top 5 are so far so good.......the rest of the list......not so much
and consensus is that Tomas is a 'rest of the list' guy
1B Jose Abreu/CHW, 6yrs/$68M OF Yasiel Puig/LA, 7yrs/$42M OF Yoenis Cespedes/OAK, 4yrs/$36M LHP Aroldis Chapman/CIN, 6yrs/$30M OF Jorge Soler/CHC, 9yrs/$30M 2B Alexander Guerrero/LA, 4yrs/$28M SS Erisbel Arruebarruena/LA, 5yrs/$25M OF Leonys Martin/TEX, 5yrs/$15M RHP Miguel Gonzalez/PHI, 3yrs/$12M SS Adeiny Hechevarria/TOR, 4yrs/$10M OF Dayan Viciedo/CHW, 4yrs/$10M SS Jose Iglesias/BOS, 4yrs/$8M 2B Aledmys Diaz/STL, 4yrs/$8M
