In years past, the answer would have been yes. But, he is qualifying at fewer positons as time goes on, and, this year, his numbers have taken a tumble. So, and though this was probably not a serious inquiry, the answer is no. heh I was serious but the caveat is the league I have him we use CI/MI and 4 OFs...so slim pickins on the waiver wire. But geez another major disappointment on my teams lol

Well, a good bit of life IS timing.......
Early Saturday, Ernesto Frieri was en route from Kansas City to Pittsburgh, where he had just been dealt by the Angels. His itinerary called for a layover in Chicago's O'Hare Airport, and he felt dingy.
"I'm waiting for my next flight, so I just went to a bathroom to wash my face. First thing, I look at this guy washing his hands next to me," said Frieri, "and I thought, 'I think I know this guy.'
"I looked again, and he's looking at me and goes, 'Really? Well, I guess this is when we get to meet each other.'"
It was Jason Grilli, the fellow reliever for whom Frieri had been traded hours earlier and himself was en route from Pittsburgh to Kansas City to join the Angels.
The world might be small, but O'Hare Airport is not. That was one of the 100-plus bathrooms in the five-terminal complex.
"This is baseball. Life is crazy. That's a huge airport, and we just got traded for each other and that's how we meet," said Frieri, who had never before exchanged a word with Grilli.
They made up for it on the spot.
"I just said, 'Wish you luck over there, lot of good people, you've got a lot of good friends; make the most of it,'" Grilli recalled. "For me, it was difficult leaving good friends. That's always the hard part, and it sounded like that's what it was for him."
Frieri to Grilli: "Congratulations, you're going to a really good team. Good teammates."
"I knew who he was, but I hadn't talked to him before," Frieri said. "Kind of funny. Seems like a really nice guy."
With clean hands.

I think MLB should encourage Alfredo to smoke. He seems like one of those tightly wound guys that could stand a good mellowing out.

Here's the Sox problem in a nutshell:
4 out of 5 days they pitch well but don't hit. On the fifth day they hit but pitch like shit.

Then, they are going to have to count on some Mookie Magic to get them jump started. New blood can do that for a team. I saw it last year myself.

Something tells me their fans would be none too happy with a fire sale and youth movement, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, a lot of the fans wouldnt like it. other than pitching what do they have to sell? Dont see them getting rid of Pedroia, Papi, Nap or Xander.

Well, day one in the den is almost done.
BTW: The hours of this little slice of heaven will normally be Mon - Fri 7:30 a.m - 5:00 p.m PACIFIC. No holidays, and, if I am not feeling well, then I may take a day off.
That is just for me. No big deal at all if I am not here. Sit back, enjoy, and discuss away.

Andrew Cashner.... Keep him? YES! A real talent. His only question is health. Well, if you don't count the team hitting behind him that is. That is where things get interesting, as, he might MIGHT be a selling piece for the Friars, and, a trade should give him more value. That is what I was thinking. His health is the issue and I was thinking about releasing him because of it. BUT he does have the arm to do well for me. I think Myers is the odd man out for me here

Things just keep getting worse for Tampa.
How about this for a first inning?
Austin Jackson singled to center. Ian Kinsler homered to deep left, Austin Jackson scored. Miguel Cabrera walked. Víctor Martínez homered to deep left center, Miguel Cabrera scored. J.D. Martínez flied out to shallow right. Torii Hunter homered to deep left center. Nick Castellanos singled to shallow right. Álex Ávila lined out to right center. Eugenio Suárez flied out to deep right center.

Doesn't help that Erik Bedard's pitching. He just flat out sucks now.
