Just a quick FYI.
The Yankee / O's game cancelled tonight will be made up 1 month from now, on 9/12.

according to "rank" Wade Davis Danny Duffy Mike Leake Bud Norris My rank of that rank Duffy Leake Davis Norris If and when you decide to decide, this would be the way I would go, forgoing Davis, unless your league counts holds, or, unless you are in a max innings league, and are already near you limit. Even without holds, Davis can still help bring down your staff's overall e.r.a & WHIP numbers. No max league innings so that's good.... I am wondering if I can wait one more start for Verlander to see if he can turn it around until I try to pick up one of those guys

Wait for the MRI result, which should be out and known in the next few days. If there is anything there at all, time to punt (change).

More proof that I have just lived too long.
The World Now Has a Bacon-Powered Motorcycle
Hormel Foods has built the world's first bike completely powered by bacon grease biodiesel. When mixed with other compounds, a pound of bacon grease renders out to make a gallon of "pig fuel" that produces, as a by-product, the sweet smell of bacon in the motorcycle's exhaust. The bike gets 75 to 100 miles per gallon, which at $3.50 a gallon isn't bad, and naturally, this whole thing rolls with a phalanx of marketing gimmickry, including a special hashtag and a Hormel-financed documentary to chronicle its cross-country voyage.
The lucky driver of the pork motorcycle is described as a "bacon lover," and as is custom with these things, the trip across the U.S. sounds like it will be a journey of self-discovery and lard. The crew is looking to connect with kindred bacon fans, noting, "we're obviously bacon to the core."
The fact that the bacon grease biodiesel "has no hazardous waste materials" is also obviously a big selling point. "If there were a bacon biodiesel tanker spill in the ocean, the fuel would be safe and mouthwatering fish food," its creators say, claiming the bike is "nearly carbon-neutral."

I didn't go there, in that I felt that the trade dealine in most leagues have already passed. 5 more days for my Yahoo! leagues...glad I checked, time to get scrambling lol IMO, it's time for big roster changes for many. This late in the year, at least for me, I look a lot less at how good a guy is overall. Instead, and thinking only of Roto here, I am looking at how close I am in a particular scoring cat, and make moves based on which cats I can still gain enough in to overcome the guy ahead of me. As such, and as an example, a power hitting Chris Davis can be easily dumped in favor of the speedy Jarrod Dyson, if your team is well set in homers and r.b.i, but is also only a few steals behind, with more room there to move up in stolen bags than would be worth hanging onto Davis for a few more homers. It is for this reason that my final, final end team roster always looks very odd, with some otherwise scrubs playing, only as they are still playing, and can help me win hitting wise, and, a bunch of pitchers who happened to start on the last day of the season vs. keeping the most talented guys who last started a week ago. I hope this can be understood, and I know this is a bit of a ramble.

The faith here being that not only will he pitch again this year, and sooner than later, but, will he be better that he has been all year once he does come back? How you answer that question should lead you to a solid and good for you decision. For me, he would be gone. But, I am of little faith......

Never an easy decision when you have both pulling at you from opposite sides. Leaing on logic here, her has had a down year all this year so far. Now, he is hurt. Logic says he will not magically get all better for his last handful of starts. It is by using logic that you can save yourself and your sanity. What I mean is, is that even if he does magically get back to 2009-2012 form, you made a solid, logical dicison to dump him, based on all the info you had at the time of the move. As such, you end up not regretting decisions, but, sometimes, "only" regretting end outcomes.

and wtf is up with EE?!?!
"After he was initially prescribed a 2-to-4 week recovery timetable from the quad injury, Encarnacion has missed over a month of action, depriving the Blue Jays of some needed pop. Because of the extended absence, he'll likely require at least a handful of rehab games before the team feels comfortable activating him. With the Blue Jays falling six games behind the Orioles for the division lead following back-to-back losses, even the return of one of the game's top power threats might not be enough for the team to overcome the deficit.:
My other fantasy team is screwed.. I have EE, Brandon Phillips, Carlos Gonzlaez out

I have EE, Brandon Phillips, Carlos Gonzlaez out EE should be back in action within 1 week. For Phillips, it will probably take 2 1/2 weeks. As for CarGo, with the Rockies out of it, they might shut him down for the year, even if his injury is the lesser of the 3 here. As such, give this whole thing a week, and hopefully much more will be known by then. I myself would be looking to dump CarGo, but not just yet.

The current state of the Tigers, especially pitching wise.
Obviously there is still a lot of baseball left to play. And if I had to bet, I’d bet that the Detroit Tigers are going to be just fine. But the past two weeks has to convince Tigers fans that, yes, there are Baseball Gods. And that they are not benevolent. Indeed, they’re like the gods of Greek mythology who seem to enjoy toying with mortals.
Less than two weeks ago the Tigers traded for David Price, giving them a rotation consisting of the last three Cy Young Award winners, last year’s ERA champion and a kid in Rick Porcello who is having as good or better a season than all of them. The big question on everyone’s mind was how to fit all of those starters into the Tigers’ playoff rotation, with said playoffs being inevitable.
Flash forward: the Tigers started Robbie Ray last night. They are starting a guy named “Buck Farmer” today. If you had said “Buck Farmer” to me a couple of days ago I would have said it was either the name of a second tier porn star or the name Justin Verlander uses to check into hotels without being noticed. Meanwhile, two starters the Tigers considered superfluous — Doug Fister and Drew Smyly — spun gems for their new teams in the past 48 hours.
This isn’t an indictment of any move the Tigers have made. No one would choose Smyly over Price and not having Fister around did not hurt the Tigers until very recently. And obviously no one can predict injuries. It’s merely to note how damn fast everything can change in baseball and how things you thought were sure things one moment become something far less than sure the next.
It sucks to be reminded of this when it happens to your team. And no one wants injuries to happen. But in a cosmic sense, the quick turn of fortune that can happen in this game is one of baseball’s most exciting phenomenons.

Did you know that you can die from drinking too much? And, that alcohol has nothing to do with it sometimes?
Hours before he was supposed to start his first day of his senior year of high school in Georgia, 17-year-old Zyrees Oliver collapsed and was rushed to the hospital in a helicopter.
He'd consumed two gallons of water and two gallons of Gatorade after football practice, and was so over-hydrated that his body's electrolytes were thrown off-balance, causing massive swelling in his brain. Five days later, on Sunday night, he was taken off the ventilator.
"He's already in heaven," his aunt, Nina Oliver told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that night. He was pronounced dead hours later. "It's incomprehensible," she said. "We had a healthy, beautiful, vibrant young man."
Zyrees Oliver excelled at both football and track, and boasted a 3.8 GPA, according to his family and friends. His classmates wore team colors and formed a prayer circle at school on Friday, while grief counselors were dispatched Monday.
While death from over-hydration is very rare, it does happen; one woman died in 2007 after drinking two gallons of water in a radio contest, reports CBS News; earlier this year, a couple was charged after their 5-year-old daughter died from drinking too much grape soda.

An odd little piece of baseball history. It was on this date back in 2006 that LA's Greg Maddux and SF's Jason Schmidt hook up in a classic West Coast pitcher's duel, reminiscent of match-ups of Koufax and Marichal, as the Dodgers beat the Giants, 1-0, thanks to Russell Martin's 10th inning walk-off home run. When Giants slugger Barry Bonds lines into a double play in the first inning it marks the only time in baseball history a 300 game winner pitches to a batter with over 700 homers.

So, no Papi or Pedroia for the Sox game vs. the Reds today. Starting at 3B is Kelly Johnson, and catching is someone named Daniel Butler.
Lucky this is an away game. I can only imagine what a Red Sox fan who bought tickets to this game preseason would think about this, as this is NOT the lineup that person would have expected then to see now.
