I’ve heard a lot this Winter about the handful of “super teams” keeping everyone else from committing a lot of dollars. Why bother? Kind of crazy to look at it that way. With next winters crop, it seems guys this winter got fucked pretty good........the "Super teams" definitely gearing up for this crazy class next year

one less team for cain
its pretty obvious the league is afraid of giving the royals extra draft picks, so they are ignoring the top 3 players on the market.

That isn’t helping this Winter at all. Meanwhile, Harper to the Cubs and Machado to the Yankees seem to be the odds-on favorites at this point.

Id almost be shocked if Machado doesnt end up in the Bronx, just too much of a coincidence that they are ignoring 3rd base this offseason....They loved Todd Frazier, and he would have returned at a very reasonable rate....They never even kicked the tires on Moustakas, just so unlike the Yankees........It just seems so obvious where they have their sights set

not really...I think he has been figured out. I though he hasnt hit against the cubs over the last couple years.....turns out, its everybody.
decent power, but his OBP was .285 & .289 the last 2 years. awful.
Still only 25. Not a bad gamble.

The longer this glacial Hot Stove goes the more likely those kinds of deals look.

I can’t imagine what his contract is going to look like.

dirt seems to think moose would sign with the yankees for 1 year. not likely
The Yankees, as a team that exceeded the luxury tax threshold in 2017, would have to give up their second- and fifth-highest selections from the 2018 Draft as well as $1 million of their international bonus pool to sign Moustakas. So even if the third baseman decided to roll the dice and sign a one-year deal, it's extremely unlikely that the Yankees -- who don't have an established third baseman -- would give up two Draft picks and the bonus pool money to sign a player to a short-term contract.

According to a source, teams expressed early interest in Moustakas but had second thoughts after hearing his asking price. The Angels had been frequently tagged as a potential destination for Moustakas, but Los Angeles moved quickly (well, quickly for this market, anyway) and signed Zack Cozart to a three-year, $38 million contract to fill its hole at third base.
"He's a solid player, but not a star," one general manager said. "When you see what Bruce got from the Mets, it's hard to see Moustakas getting more than that.

Yeah, I think I forgot that the Mariners are planning to move Dee Gordon to CF. There is no need for Cain there with that move. So I am moving Cain to the Rangers. And I think Arrieta to the Rangers could happen.
