Really surprised that both he and EE didn't get more. Especially EE Batista, if 18 million could ever seem embarrassing I guess it is Nobody wanted to piss away a first round pick on Bautista.

Makes sense. As for EE, he's really a DH and that hurt him quite a bit!

Is it to late for the Red Sox to send the White Sox Castillo and just tell them it's Moncada. You think they'll notice? saw one of those yahoo headlines.....Kopech hits 110mph...
then I look at it and its at some workout facility...and he is crowhopping and throwing into a net 10 ft away, and some clown with a tiny hand held Walmart radar device shows 110.
wasted 3 minutes of my life.......and now 1 more making this post.
True but he's a legit 100 in game action. That's good shit. No idea if he will ever command, but his floor is above Joe Kelly. My guess is that he's Fernando Rodney at the end of the day. But the grand optimists think that he's Verlander.

Is Yoan Igawa Moncada on the opening day roster? when they got him, they said they were planning to start him in AAA. (I believe its a 'starting the clock' issue.) That's where I would put him also. Needs to work on hitting big league breaking stuff obviously. Nevermind filthy breaking stuff. Just garden variety big league stuff. He'll see more of that in AAA. And he'll play every day.

Sox already got their future closer. Burdi 2016 draft pick who in a couple months went from A to AA to AAA.....and in 9 games at AAA he pitched 16 innings and struck out 22. 100 mph guy also.

Rick Hahn said he need more experience at the higher levels, not going to rush him. Which is the smart move.....and the fact that it keeps his clock from starting is a bonus. He will have to tear up AAA for a couple of months before he gets called up.

Glad to hear. Guy needs work but has tools up the wazoo, all of them. Just needs the ABs and some coaching.

Lots of people to get on base and in scoring position for him. I thought the Tigers had a "puncher's chance" at taking the Central with better injury luck than they had in '16. Now I think that they will have to hope for a wild card, and that will be asking a lot.

Benintendi = #1 prospect per MLB Pipeline. Suck it Dirt! Trading a rental RP to get the no 3 prospect>>>using a top 10 pick to get the number 1 But hey..at least they made up for that Trey Ball top 10 pick from before.. "who the fuck is trey ball?"

I'd be a little salty too if my team only had one prospect in the top 100. And that's 99. But hey, he's a catcher! look how well our last catching phenom named Matt Wieters worked out.

Benintendi = #1 prospect in baseball. That was a good draft class for hitting at the top Bregman, Swanson, Benintendi already MLBers.. Rodgers, Tucker and Ian Happ look legit too. Pitchers still in the air, Tate, Fulmer and Jay haven't really wowed yet.

I was wondering why Benitendi went to the top of the prospect list....are they overreacting to some big league success in a fairly small sample size? Is he now projecting to be more than he was? I haven't seen much of him, but he seems like a high floor....low ceiling guy.
I think they may have overreacted to Gleyber's strong AFL as well, still hasn't faced a pitch above A-Ball...A little early to have him that high....

Frodo's tools are top notch. His hit tool is like a 55-60. Has enough pop to project to just short of Betts-level homers, although not in year 1 for sure, maybe not even year 2. But he projects as a legit plus CF stuck in LF, where he should be GG-caliber. No doubt that his resume above A-ball is light, which is where you're docking him and Torres. But from a "I've seen enough, this guy has it" POV, that's why those guys are that high on that particular list. Some guys base more on having a longer resume, and would have other guys higher.

but I'm looking at guys like Bryant and Schwarber.....who absolutely tore up AA & AAA...spending the same limited time in the minors, and in conjuction with the sky high hit tool(Schwarber) and the sky high everything(Bryant)
neither were #1 prospects. I'm just thinking you aren't expecting Benintendi to be the impact player those guys were projected to be.

But I wouldn't not be surprised if he is more valuable than Schwarber before long, considering defense and baserunning. Nobody is Bryant.

I know they are special cases...just comparing college hitters coming in and getting to the big leagues in short time....
looks like once he got to AA...he no longer had success stealing bases.(though, he shouldn't be stealing bases in Boston's lineup.)
like I said, I haven't seen really any of him. Will be someone I watch for this year.

I know all about Gleyber......might be talking about him in the Lindor, Seager, Correa, Russell, Bogaerts etc....best young SSs in the game category in 2 years.......or, we may find out that he is going to be a talented defensive SS that hasn't been able to hit high level pitching consistently.
