"salty's ground ball single hit off a pitcher melting down on national television was bigger than a grandslam that tied the game the inning before"

He didn't... Point of fact...he drove in 4 of their 6 runs, in a game won 6-5 on that one swing... He won them that game... You want to credit salty 16 hopper to right field more? Go for it...

Millar was the catalyst in the 2004 ALCS that led to the turn around (in hindsight) Ortiz was that last year in ALCS

They both deserve, and get, a ton of credit... "no one ever celebrates billy mueller driving in Roberts" The reason why I wouldn't compare their series? Again, Ortiz had an OPS over 1.000, mueller? .633 4 runs...one swing =/= 1 run, why is that so fucking complicated for you to grasp?

This is all very easy for me to grasp.basically your stance is that no matter what rally no matter what game no matter what series Ortiz's hits were the important its everybody else was just an extra in his starring role. Christ down an hour ago you gave him credit for winning game to last year. When all he did was tied the game. Now all you do for 2004 is give him credit for winning the game when somebody else tied it. you're unbelievable double standards right here would make dirt proud.

If he retires after this year, has he done enough to make the Hall of Fame? Does he need a few more very good years?

I think IF David Ortiz has 2 to 3 more solid years then he most likely will get in. I am still on the fence about a DH getting elected since as people have already mentioned that you should play defense as well (yes he does, but rarely)...

The roiders who were better have to get in before Ortiz. He gets in after Sosa, Bonds, Piazza, Bagwell, McGwire and Palmiero.

Right now, no. Especially if Edgar Martinez isn't considered a HOFer. Not only does Edgar have better career rate stats, but some of Edgar's best years (at least in terms of WAR) were when he played 3rd base. Ortiz has only three seasons in the top 10 in the AL in WAR (Edgar had 7).
I think Ortiz needs a few more good years (or maybe two more years in line with 2011-13). Ortiz might get in because of the clutch narrative though.
