Who am I to argue? Something that concerns me... I've barely watched any Stars this year so i have no idea how good they are other than, pretty darn good by looking at the standings. I thought Dallas, St. Louis, and Chicago were all as close to even as you could get. One observation from the St. Louis series was the tendency for the Blues to lose focus. they could be lulled into playing on their heels and allowing too many shots through to Elliot. Chicago tallied some very heavy shot totals, and only Elliot's headstands kept it a close game. Only 1 of the 7 games, I think, the Blues out-shot the Hawks, and ironically they lost that one in OT. Hawks had 2 no-goals in the series hit both posts, and a couple Elliot scraped off the line. It easily could have gone the other way. They are a strong team physically, with 4 solid lines. 4 games entered the 3rd period in a tie, and Blues won 3 of them. They closed well, something they have not done in years. This game two summary (if you allow for the "entering OT in a tie") was brought to you by Nostradumass. Your "entering OT in a tie" was actually quite salient. Peachy Rockin Gal could learn a few things from you, good sir. |

Seguin and Eaves both skated yesterday. Neither made the trip. Val made the trip but he might as well not have. He won't see the ice for either Games 3 or 4.
I would almost bet the house on Brett Ritchie getting the call tonight. He brings size and decent puck handling and has played well when called up earlier - particularly against the Kings. One of "the kids" who might have made the team last fall had it not been for injuries. McKenzie might get a look also but I "think" Eaves will be ready Thursday night.

Best news for me is that Val is finally playing with confidence. Up until Game 4, he just looked like he had no idea what he should be doing out there. On Thursday, he appeared decisive and just played. So far this game - the same. Spezza needs help in that line with Eakin on the top line. He's getting it now.
Add to that the kids are playing well and contributing, Johns is going to be a top line defenseman for years to come. Janmark for Erik Cole was a steal. McKenzie & Ritchie are getting ice time. And all this with Seguin and Eaves out.
I have no complaints.

1-1 after 1. Dallas skating well. I didn't see all the STL scratches... but Reaves is where he should be. In the coaches box. His 9 shifts on Thursday night were a bag of nothing. That dude has one valuable skill set and he spent it with his kiss Tuesday night. |
