If you as taxpayers want to fork over $750 million, well, you can have 'em Well thats not how we do things here. We tax the tourists. The projection I saw was there would be about a $1.50 per room increase over the next few years to pay for the public money aspect. I still thing 750,000,000 is too much, but it would change everything in Vegas from a major city stand point and I think UNLV would completely benefit and even have a chance at moving up in the conference landscape. It's tax money whether it comes directly from you or from the tourists. If that's the best way Vegas can think of to spend 3/4 of a billion $, then good for you. Either way you're subsidizing a billionaire's playtoy. Mark Davis will happily become Adelson's puppet. But really it doesn't matter much to me. While I'd hate for them to leave NorCal, there is no way in hell Oakland will subsidize a new stadium, and Vegas isn't a bad destination if I want to see a Raider game. (Although domes do absolutely blow)

(Although domes do absolutely blow) I am not naive about the subsidizing of billionaires stadiums, and the history of them. I am rationalizing a bit i guess, but the number is still being discussed. They were in meeting yesterday where the number being floated around was more like $540,000,000, and it was said that it would change the increase by about $0.30. I totally think that billionaires should pay for their own shit, but it wont be coming out of my pocket, or any of the residents here, unless they are renting rooms on the strip. I also understand that we wont be reaping any direct benefits from the venture either, but it will help the city in more way than one. It's one of those things that is way over due in my opinion, and I am not seeing much of a down side whether the public money amount changes or not. I also see most of the season ticket holders still remaining that way. Its not a far flight, and there are tons of LA Raider fans obviously. Thats only a 4 hour drive. The flights are frequent and relatively cheap from San Fran or LA. The projected stadium locations will be within minutes of the airport here.

Raiders clinch first playoff berth since 2002Posted by Zac Jackson on December 18, 2016, 7:44 PM EST nbcprofootballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/630215720-e1482107430650.jpg?w=218The Raiders are going to the playoffs — and they’ve taken over first place in the AFC West. They rallied to beat the Chargers Sunday, 19-16, to clinch their first playoff berth since 2002. A field goal by Sebastian Janikowski and a Reggie Nelson interception sealed it. The Chargers had led, 16-13, late in the third quarter on a Philip Rivers touchdown pass to Hunter Henry. The Raiders won despite getting one touchdown in seven trips inside the Chargers’ 20-yard line because Janikowski made four field goals and the Chargers kept stalling. It was 10-10 at halftime. Michael Crabtree’s 13-yard catch just before halftime stood as the Raiders’ only touchdown. Rivers threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin on the game’s first drive. The Chargers missed the extra point after Henry’s touchdown, keeping the lead at three. The Chargers’ last four possessions ended with two punts and two turnovers. The Raiders held the Chargers to 263 total yards. Both teams turned the ball over twice; the Raiders got the tying field goal following Kenneth Farrow’s fumble at the Chargers’ 14-yard line with 11:35 left. The Raiders take over first place and the AFC’s No. 2 seed because the Chiefs lost to the Titans on Sunday. The Raiders finish vs. the Colts next week and at the Broncos on Jan. 1. The Chargers fall to 5-9.

If people thought yesterday's game in San Diego was basically a Home game for the Raiders, just wait until next year when the Chargers play in LA.

Raiders have NFL-high seven Pro Bowlers Posted by Michael David Smith on December 20, 2016, 8:07 PM EST The Silver and Black is back. After years in the NFL wilderness, the Raiders are one of the most talented teams in the NFL again. And if you measure talent by the number of players in the Pro Bowl, the Raiders are atop the league. The Pro Bowl rosters are out, and the Raiders have seven players in the Pro Bowl, more than any other team. Leading the roster is quarterback Derek Carr, along with two other recent high draft picks, receiver Amari Cooper and pass rusher Khalil Mack. And three players who block for Carr — center Rodney Hudson, guard Kelechi Osemele and tackle Donald Penn — made the roster as well. Joininng Mack on the AFC Pro Bowl defense is free safety Reggie Nelson. The Raiders, of course, are hoping they’re not in the Pro Bowl because they’re in the Super Bowl instead. But while they’re not hoping to travel to Orlando in January, a league-high list of Pro Bowlers is something to celebrate in December.

Where is that thread about posting your wild predictions for the NFL season? I predicted the Raiders winning the division.

Well these aren't Al Davis' Raiders anymore. The Raiders ended a 14 year playoff drought going 12-4 but losing David Carr to a broken leg on the only sack Donald Penn gave up all season Still a 12-4 record a fairly young team with a very young nucleus means they should be in the playoff hunt every year for the foreseeable future. Best move taking the training wheels off the offense and letting David Carr shine. Carr was in the MVP talk all season long and deservedly so Worst move going to go with the letting go of Musgrave as their OC. If it ain't broke don't fix it Don't be surprised if the Raiders now that they are an exciting winning team find a home in the Bay area, it just wouldn't be in Oakland proper Teams off season needs still need CB help a DT, and a coast to coast MLB in the vein of Kuechly or Bobby Wagner

Don't be surprised ifthe Raiders now that they are an exciting winning team find a home in the Bay area, it just wouldn't be in Oakland proper Haven't heard anything like that at all. If they stay - and that's a pretty big if - it will be on the existing Coliseum site, or maybe more likely short term, the NFL forces Pauper Davis to share Levi's. I love the idea of them out in the burbs somewhere, but it isn't happening.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has said "if the (Raiders) decide that they can't make it work in Oakland and they decide that they want to file for relocation, then their window is from when they get eliminated from the playoffs to Feb. 15." They will file before that window closes.
fuck you, goodell

Davis has said publicly that even if the team moves, he plans on playing for the next couple seasons in Oakland while his new stadium is built. After that, pending the vote from the owners, it's off to Vegas, baby. Vegas.
Then you raise their ticket prices? Awful idea
Cut prices and hope more fans show up to celebrate the team for the next 2 years.

Blame the city of Oakland the most when they do go. Also, did you lose interest when they moved to LA? Or is the city of Oakland a big part of the reason you like the Raiders? P.S. Goddell sucks.

I am willing to make a bet that they will end up in Vegas. The league would like them to stay in the very rich Bay area, time however is not on their side The league wants what? I think the league wants global recognition, and there are few cities in the world more well known globally than Las Vegas. Might be a few bucks here too. They officially filed with the league to move to Vegas today. They need 24 owns to vote for it. With the heavy hitters like Arthur Blank, Jerrah, and Kraft already publically saying the move makes sense, I dont see it not going through. After the owners vote, that will say what the league wants.
