You argued the NFL didnt' have rightful access to the elevator tape.   I am taking your side (for argumentative sake) that they didn't.    What is your stance if they did have access? 


I understand, not agree with, that the NFL made their judgement based off of the drag video + confession......but it's clear Rice lied about it all and his wife covered him.....and the nfl "fell for it".

It was outrageous, but why does this video change anything? It should have been more severe from the start because, you know, he beat up a woman. But it doesn't mean they should be able to go back now that this video is public and change their minds.

And I don't believe for one second that the NFL is seeing this thing for the very first time today.

i think goodell made a decision based off rice's admission and the video that was made public.

You're a little slow...

Initial situation:  Goodell says that they've seen the tape and that the suspension is based on the fact that Rice wasn't the aggressor and was defending himself and that this fact was taken into account with his suspension.  At this point, we have to go by what they tell us because we haven't seen the tape.

Current situation:  We've all see the tape, and realize that Goodell was blowing smoke up our asses, now he's in damage control, saying they never saw the tape that they said that they already saw.

my bottom dollar opinion, regardless of what led to it is this. 


Goodell wanted to drop the hammer on Rice. Problem is, there's no "rule" on this scenario (aka something the union has agreed upon), therefore whatever Goodell wanted to do goes through them. I think he went for Rice's throat, the union told him to fuck off (imo due to the lack of the insider elevator video. JUST the drag video doesnt show how severe the beating was). They agreed "give 'em 2 games, and we will work out a rule for future cases" (which if you notice, that rule came pretty quick after the Rice shit). Goodell swallowed his pride, bit the bullet, and did the two games, knowing he has his own rule now in place. 

Fast forward to the elevator tape released. Goodell NOW has the evidence he needed to bury Rice, Ravens cut him, and Goodell drops the hammer. 

That's my end of the day opinion of what went down. Does my opinion on Goodell change if it turns out he saw it? Absolutely, but as of right now I see Goodell as a guy who wants to bang out scumbags in his league.
