It was outrageous, but why does this video change anything? It should have been more severe from the start because, you know, he beat up a woman. But it doesn't mean they should be able to go back now that this video is public and change their minds. And I don't believe for one second that the NFL is seeing this thing for the very first time today. I agree with all of that. The NFL looks horrible here. They are in a lose/lose thanks to themselves. funny thing is goodell smacks him with a 8+ game suspension, bleeding hearts cry about how "he's gotten help" and "they are happily married" and "she dropped the charged", etc, etc, etc. the pussified america we live in imo is why his suspension was so low.

The fact that you think there would have been outcry if rice got an 8 game suspension is ludicrous. Fucking crazy.

I agree with all of that. The NFL looks horrible here. They are in a lose/lose thanks to themselves. Yeah they really do. They were asking for something like this the day the commissioners office decided to be judge and jury, as opposed to letting the individual teams and the law handle these situations. yeah I can see handing out punishments for PEDs and shit that affects the game but off field stuff...slippery slope when most of these guys are animals lol

didnt you already axe me this and I said that'd be pretty stupid..."nah I don't need to see the evidence" he fucked up man, no matter what the "truth" is. He either saw the tape and said "meh 2 games" or he didnt see the tape when he should have hard to believe the main guys that constantly bitch about how "gay" the NFL is becoming are now defending the puke stain making it gay you guys literally make no sense sometimes I still love football...Goodell fucking sucks when you guys make assumptions, you ignore everything that's said. i said if goodell didnt see it, i think it's because he would have been told no. read news type stuff. it can be interesting sometimes. THIS JUST IN: Spokesman for New Jersey state attorney general says it would have been illegal to release Ray Rice video to NFL. (via @abc) you think a "former lawyer" wouldnt know that it would be illegal to see that tape? hmmm. i think goodell made a decision based off rice's admission and the video that was made public. my comments about the league, it's faggot scumbag piece of shit players such as Rice which make me dislike the league so much, not it's commish. so overall, approximately 0% of you post regarding what i think of this situation and the nfl is dead wrong. So...TMZ outscooped he NFL? Is that what you believe? Donald Sterling lost his team over an illegally recorded conversation. You really don't think Goodell had a chance to see this? Maybe TMZ just pays better.

No, NFL didn't expect some brand new mega casino to go out of business in the blink of an eye, so they probably assumed the security footage was never gonna see the light of day and their word was all that the public would ever have to go on.

Now he is spinning this like he is horrified. The video shouldn't have changed much. Everyone knew he knocked her out.

I don't get why people keep mentioning double jeopardy, this is Goodell the Ginger Hammer's monarchy, not the US court system.

You are on point, Jets. Yam has been defending Goodell from day 1 on this shit. "A rule is a rule" is what he'll tell you. That's what he told me about Josh Gordon. Goodell fucked this up. It's his mess. Going from 2 games "slap on the wrist" to kicked out of the league because it a video is absurd. We already saw him dragging her out of the elevator. You don't need to be a genius to figure out what happened.

I just used that as an example of a law enforcement issue. I honestly don't remember a single instance where MLB has suspended somebody for such an issue. Maybe it's because baseball players just don't commonly run afoul of the law.

All of you would have a point if there wasn't outcry before this new video. But there was. This video did nothing but support all of us who thought the original suspension was outrageous from the start. It was outrageous, but why does this video change anything? It should have been more severe from the start because, you know, he beat up a woman. But it doesn't mean they should be able to go back now that this video is public and change their minds.
