I swear, I don't think people follow baseball anymore and just look at the standings when they wake up in the morning. Has anyone been paying attention to contracts lately and the business of baseball as a whole. They way television deals are aiding teams to spend money at a premium?
Someone do me a favor since Ellsbury is such an albatross and terrible contract, someone let me know how much Josh Hamilton is making this year and ask the Angles and their fans how much they care.
Talking about salaries is for teenage boys. "yeah but..but...but...but, hes overpaid" We're in a day and age now where 7th inning MRP with ERAs north of 4 are making 5 or 6 million.

Losing Ellsbury hurt... Red Sox weren't going to pay him the money he wanted, they made that clear. Heck it was talked about long before he signed with NY that at some point he would leave Boston. it would be very nice to have a consistant hitter at the top of the line-up but even with him I don't think the Red Sox would be very good this year. Better than they are now perhaps but not by much But the Red Sox are at the bottom of the pack in terms of runs scored. Can't win games if you are not scoring.

Also do me a favor and let me know how much fucking Craig Breslow is making. About 4 million right? Why anyone cares about payroll like they write the checks is beyond my imagination at this point.

You know who should be embarrassed? The Boston Red Sox organization. Here they are coming off a WS win and they find themselves in the cellar in a mediocre AL East that was once a powerhouse division.
That the NY Yankees are ahead of them in the standings staring closely at a playoff birth with a 40 year old SS, Kelly Johnson playing 1B, Brian Roberts at 2B, and newly aquired Chase Headley playing 3rd. On top of that, their best pitcher right now is Brandon fucking Mccarthy.
The only embarassment in this room, is the whiney cunt Red Sox fans talking about Ellsbury's salary when he's been their best player all season. Stick that one up your fucking ass Boston.

Nava, Saltamachia Peavy, Victorino, Boegarts All bigger pieces to the 2013 Red Sox than Ellsbury Can NOT make this shit up Nava and Victorino were better hitters last year... This isn't even disputable... The fact that you are even questioning this? Illustrates just how little you know about what you're discussing. But what I was actually saying is... The drop from last year to this year, from those guys and/or their respective positions? Much worse than the Ellsbury to JBJ drop... Fact... Not opinion...

Yeah, if he is on the Stephen Drew pay scale. uh huh 200 innings every year, proven post season perfomer, a lefty, amongst the best winning percentages in the game since he's been a full time starter, no arm issues to be concerned about but not worth more than $15 million a year because Rock got mad at Richard Sherman two seasons ago New York and Boston are the only two cities where fans think 'proven post season performer' actually increases a player's value. The rest of the baseball world realizes that a player has to show up for the 162 regualr season games first. "Little Davey Eckstein is worth about $3.5 million a year but we are going to pay him $8 million a year because he's a 'proven post season performer'.

I am assuming we are talking about Holt, right? He is a good lead off guy no doubt, Ells is better however and yes he is a more dynamic player. Not saying Ells isn't. The Red Sox clearly do miss him but I don't think even with him they would be much better than they are now. you said it woudl be nice to have a consistent hitter at the top of the lineup sox have one Sox would be better with Ellsbury..........but not "in contention" better, they have more issues than just no Ellsbury I never said they would be contending or anything close to that if they had Ellsbury though.

Ellsbury makes easy catches look hard.... That doesn't make him a great defender... Dude, hes been outstanding in CF Who gives a fuck about a great defensive CF when the Red Sox cant fucking score? Everyone in an around baseball will take a guy that can hit the shit out of the ball, and play an above average CF The reason we are discussing JBJ's glove? Because he cant hit for shit We all know this Yeah... The Red Sox "can't fucking score" so who gives a shit about their centerfield defense... Says the guy pimping the lesser centerfield defense on a team that has scored fewer fucking runs than the Red Sox... Somehow this makes sense to you...

Johnson has been playing 1B and it hasnt been pretty, their putting Mccann there too.

McCann has been moved there since Johnson hit the DL.. and Tex's vag flared up again Yeah I know. And they're still a couple of games out of first. And that god awful rotation has actually been a surprise. And they get Toronto this weekend and for whatever reason cant win in the Bronx. They'll take the series.

It's unreal I'm sure you didn't watch yesterday, but Jeter sat. For some reason instead of just moving Ellsbury up to #2, they bat him leadoff and Gardner 2nd They asked Girardi why - "I have my reasons" LOL
