Giants signed Uggla. AAA deal with an 8/1 out clause for Uggla. Nice, no-risk signing. Exactly, nice no-risk signing. I don't expect lightning in a bottle again (aka Burrell), but it can't hurt. I just hope the Giants are still looking at Zobrist.

Uggla didn't look so hot last night. SSS, but his AB's didn't even look good.

Giants pick up Peavy for Hembree and Escobar. Pretty stiff price IMHO. Good for the Red Sox, they got a good bully arm and a good sp prospect.
Hopefully Peavy still has some magic left.....

Initially, I HATED this trade. I am not a huge fan of Peavy, and EE alone would have been a steep price.
However, when I look closer, I am more luke-warm towards the trade. Look closer at EEs splits this year? Righties have a BAA of .334 and an OPS of .998. That equates to every righty who stands in against him is an MVP candidate. Granted, this is PCL, but it also is not MLB.
It is possible (though unlikely) that Hembree was the centerpiece with EE being a "change-scenery" throw-in.
The BoSox also tossed a bunch of cash to the Giants in the deal. While this sort of thing rarely if ever catch the attention of the 'Fringe, it could help in adding to the '15 team.

Glad to hear, you have a much better pulse on the kids than I ever did/do.
Hope all has been well Cal.
On a side note, one of my buddies is a huge Padres/Peavy fan and he HATES the Giants.....oh to be a fly on his wall. ;-)

Still wouldn't mind a 2B or OF as insurance as well. Even if just a solid bench type impact.

That was all done 7+ years ago. The only similarity still remaining from those stats are the fact that 5 similar letters are on the back of the pitchers jersey and the laundry of the hitters. Peavy is not the same guy he was when he put those numbers together, and none of the players he dominated are still playing for the doggies.

Tzill will be a happy man..... I would think, but he is in self-appointed exile. He went full dirty-pants in June and pretty much burned all bridges on the board. He is taking some time to let all heads cool. i already called him out for the similarities between this and the great "Fuck-Off" event of a couple years back.

I still check in on the hoop (I've become a much dumber Giants fan since my permanent vacation from there) and had noticed a couple of dust ups with Mays and MSG.
That sucks, he's a passionate dude, but he means well for sure. Lol, I felt bad about that, I just couldn't let Arias = Hanley slide. Ah the good old days.

Just in from the San Francisco news desk: UGGLA SUCKS. Yep. Sorry. We were not winning that game anyway, and it isn't like he is blocking the guy who will solve all of our ills. My expectations ar pretty low for Uggla, an I expect (hope?) his leash to be very short, so no worries from me on the Uggla-front yet. I am not too far away from wanting to see only Panik and EA a 2B for the rest of the season, though. Not there yet, but not far from there.

Dear Giants, I miss the team that was 42-21. That is all, thank you.

With today's prices, I'm actually glad the Giants stayed put.

Peavy has actually been better than I thought, poor guy only has an 0-2 to show for it though.
Belt is back, now all they need is Pagan and one of Panik/Duffy to play well enough and I like their chances at the wild card.

I knew he made the trip with the team, but didn't know he was starting today. Giants are starting their juggernaut today. WS Championship, here we come.
