The a's are scary good. I wonder if they'll keep it up or call flat in the playoffs again.

Welp.. Cole back to the DL The Pirates have placed right-hander Gerrit Cole on the 15-day disabled list with tightness in his lat, according to Tom Singer of MLB.com. Cole, 23, missed a little more than three weeks with shoulder fatigue earlier this season. The lat has been bothering him for a few days now, though the expectation was that a few days of rest would do the trick. Obviously that is not the case. In 14 starts and 85 2/3 innings this season, Cole has a 7-4 record with a 3.78 ERA. He went 10-7 with a 3.22 ERA in 19 starts during his MLB debut last summer. Right Brandon Cumpton will be called up from Triple-A to replace Cole in the rotation. The 25-year-old has a 4.61 ERA in nine spots starts so far this season.

Welp, that guy is a USED CAR SALESMAN... No Wonder he is suing ESPN!
As a result, the used-car dealer claims to have “suffered substantial injury” to his “character and reputation,” as well as “mental anguish, loss of future income and loss of earning capacity.”

I myself found this interesting -
It’s odd to think of a team that has been around for 53 years as an “expansion team,” but that’s what the Angels are. They, along with the version of the Washington Senators which became the Rangers, started play in 1961, representing the first expansion in Major League Baseball since the American League came online in 1901. Then came expansion in 1962 with the Mets and the Colt .45s (Astros) and 1969 with the Expos, Pilots (Brewers), Royals and Padres. Then 1977 with the Mariners and Jays, followed by the Marlins-Rockies in 1993 and the Devil Rays-Diamondbacks in 1998.
But despite all of that expansion history, no expansion team sat at .500 or above as play began last night. With their win over the Blue Jays last night, the Angels are now even at 4,272 wins and 4,272 losses.
Now, they aren’t the first expansion team to break .500. As Dbacks’ Vice President Josh Rawitch noted on Twitter last night, Arizona was 652-644 between 1998 and 2005, getting over the .500 hump and staying there for a time after their first couple of seasons. Such early success for an expansion team is unusual, however, and they have since sunk below sea level. The Angels were above .500 twice in their first four seasons, but they had not been at .500 in the aggregate since they were 1-1 following the second day of the 1961 season. They’ve spent over 50 years climbing out of the hole they dug. Pretty cool.
Also cool, at least if you’re an Angels fan: they have the second best record in all of baseball this year and, since May 7, they top everyone with a 36-19 mark. This is a very good Angels team right now, folks.

He gets tough guy points from me if this is true. Say what you will of Arroyo, he has been very steady and durable for a very, very long time. And, there is something to say about that.
The Diamondbacks announced yesterday that Bronson Arroyo would have to have Tommy John surgery. Tough break. But maybe it was a tough break that should’ve come a couple of weeks earlier? Get this, from 98.7FM in Arizona:
“(My elbow) was hurting my last six starts, but I pitched against (Washington Nationals’ Stephen) Strasburg, beat him and got the complete game [on May 13], and I’m pretty sure it (the ligament) must have torn off during that game at some point,” said Arroyo on Monday. Arroyo had some clunker starts after that game against the Nats, but he wasn’t awful. He was 4-2 in those six starts including three starts in which he allowed just one run. The Mets, Astros and Dodgers probably aren’t feeling too great today knowing that a dude with a torn UCL basically stymied them.

Funny how this, karmicly at least, has come full circle.
On this date back in 2008, The Cubs bolster their pitching staff, obtaining starter Rich Harden and reliever Chad Gaudin from the A’s in exchange for right-hander Sean Gallagher, second baseman/outfielder Eric Patterson, outfielder Matt Murton, and minor league backstop prospect Josh Donaldson. Chicago’s dealing may be in anticipation of the trade rumors of the Brewers getting Indians' ace, C.C. Sabathia.

That is a move that could help both teams short term, and help the Sox out longer term. The Cards have plenty of top prospects they could choose to deal for a 1/2 season of Peavy. I feel it would be this kind of deal, as I don't think he Cards will need Peavy after this year, as he will cost them more than he is now worth. As such, don't expect it to be a MLB ready type of prospect, but a real youngster, still a few years away.

If they can get any prospect back I'd call it a win. Never know - Brock Holt was a throw away in the Melancon Hanrahan deal.

AND, in respect to what they may get in return, I wonder if they have more than one catching prospect in the Cards system? Not knowing about the Sox minor league catching situation at all, they could really use an upgrade there, if they don't already have their eyes on somebody in their current system.

Not knowing about the Sox minor league catching situation at all, they could really use an upgrade there, if they don't already have their eyes on somebody in their current system. Sox have several intriguing catching prospects, notably Blake Swihart (ranked [HASH]72 in 2013 and [HASH]2014, he's only 22 and batting .294/.347/.474 and has thrown out 25 runners on 47 attempts in AA) and Christian Vazquez (a very good defensive catcher, has OK contact/plate discipline, hopefully the power will show up like it did in 2011 (18 HR, .505 SLG%) and Dan Butler. I don't expect much of a return for the Sox. Should be a salary dump.

Is there someone, or more that one, person that you would like me to reach out to bring here? I can always try, even if I have no prior connection to said poster. If I do not get to this today, I will for sure tomorrow. I am cutting out early today in about 20 minutes to go buy a new air conditioner.

Wow - Victorino pulled from another rehab assignment. I suspect given the state of the sox now, there is no hurry to get him back up. Guy is a mess.

No way I can let much go on in public until I can get some help to "mod" shit.
