Let's see if anyone posts before the board dies. I'm sure it'll do better than a thread of profound Trump quotes

Clemson will be interesting because they are replacing a lot of talent on offense. I'm sure they have a pipeline of big recruits waiting in the wings, but there can always been some adjustment time.
You also won't find a bigger ND hater than me. I like to say that ND fans act like their team is the Patriots, but it's actually the Jets. And being a BC alum makes hating them much more fun. We've ruined so many of their seasons, it's fantastic.
Now as for BC, we're getting incrementally better every year. 7-6 with a bowl win isn't anything great, but it's a step. If they can get to 8 wins this year(need to relook at the schedule to see if that seems plausible) I'll be happy. Harold Landry is one of the best D-Linemen in the country though, so watching him blow shit up will be fun either way.

I've always seen BC as a respectable 7-9 win team, but without any sort of dependable recruiting base. When a great player comes out of the region (like Christian Wilkins), that player always heads elsewhere. 2015 sucked after that massive OL moved on... I watched the Bowl Game vs PSU and those dudes were UUUUGE. 2016 improved. Hopefully it continues up for 2017. I like Addazio. Addazio inherited a complete train wreck. Spaziani didn't recruit...at all...and Addazio worked magic his first year by getting some 5th year seniors to transfer to BC that he had recruited at Florida, but that was a one year stopgap and then the cupboard was barren with upperclassmen. The defense has been spectacular but the offense has been a pile of shit. If you look at our year by year record over the past 6 or so years, you'll see how bad it got. This is a year he'll have to make a step up or he'll be on the hot seat. And we had a long stretch where 7 wins was a failed season

Spaz just couldn't recruit...and TOB, him leaving didn't hurt, the fact that he left for fucking NC State was a kick in the balls. I can never fault a successful coach for leaving BC for an upward move if an offer is there, but fucking NC State? Thats like a chick leaving you for a guy that pumps gas for a living

No. 9 Washington 'Jake Browning Doesn’t Make Mental Mistakes'
Washington’s defensive scheme gives people problems because they attack. If your team can’t beat man-to-man coverage, you’re going to have problems. But they lost some top players to the NFL in their secondary. That’s a concern: With all of the man-to-man they play, they ask a lot of their corners in coverage. Their front seven controls the line of scrimmage, and they run a lot of stunts with their tackles and ends. Their defensive coordinator, Pete Kwiatkowski, does a really good job scheming and making you make mistakes.
What makes [junior quarterback] Jake Browning special is his ability to hit [receivers in the] hands, and he doesn’t make mental mistakes. He has an incredibly high football IQ. As a defense you always hope the other team is going to throw a few bad balls, and he doesn’t do that. And then you put him with [junior running back] Myles Gaskin, who has a great ability to make you miss. He’s a smaller back [5' 10", 191 pounds], but the guy’s a real dude. They have a great tandem of running backs with Gaskin and [5' 11", 223-pound senior] Lavon Coleman.
Washington may have lost John Ross at receiver, but [coach] Chris Petersen has built that program up and they bring back an elite quarterback, so they’ll be better than they were last year
So why are they ranked lower

Remember, Clemson basically lost their entire offense. I have no doubt they have talented guys there in those spots, but first year starters across the board could have some bumps in the road

1. It's Sports Illustrated. It's not supposed to be intelligent. Let's examine the final rankings. SI Rank (2017 AP Final) 1. Alabama (2) 2. Florida State (8) 3. Ohio State (6) 4. Oklahoma State (11) 5. USC Trojans (3) 6. Oklahoma Sooners (5) 7. Clemson Tigers (1) 8. Penn State Nittany Lions (7) 9. Washington Huskies (4) 10. Auburn Tigers (24) Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson are reasonable assumptions for top teams. Let's say it's pretty reasonable to assume that USC is also better in the PAC 12. They probably will not have the early-season stumbles and they shut down Washington effectively. PSU also jumped them. The Big Ten Champs return everyone from last year's squad that had a 1st year QB, a new OC, a new DC, and a patchwork OL. Now they have almost all positions back, two heisman candidates, and the systems fully installed. Florida State - wow. That's an outlier. Anyone remember the curb stomping Louisville put on them? Don't know where that came from. Oklahoma State was a blown call in an early game away from being in the playoff talk and they return what might be the nations best receiving group. Oklahoma - It probably too much hype. I think it's an Issue of Washington getting a little better skill-wise but not making the same jump as some of the other teams (FSU, USC, OK, OkSU, PSU). Still think the Sooners and Semenholes are overrated here. OU is an unknown with Lincoln as the HC. We'll see, but I see them out of the top 10 this year.
Same with FSU...
PSU should flip with OSU, especially with what you say about who is coming back for them.
Rest seem good except for Clemson (time will tell on that one) and Auburn. Seems every other year everyone picks them to do as good as when they had Cam....don't really know why except that they are from Alabama.

Agreed. There is some resistance to dropping the national champ too far. The Defense will still be outstanding. I'd have no issue with flipping Clemson, Washington, Penn State in any order. The initial top 25 polls aren't worth the paper they're printed on though. Everyone sucks ND's shriveled little penis and there will always be teams that SHOCK THE WORLD! Washington and PSU were not supposed to do what they did, but they did it!

I'm pretty stoked for USC. If the Defense gives us anything Darnold and the offense are championship caliber.
And living in Texas, 9/16 is circled on the calendar. Won't change the 2006 Rose Bowl but it's the one game where my wife and I will watch it together.
Or at least until the Trojans are stomping the little Horns sometime in the late 2nd quarter.

Take USC pre-Darnold and post-Darnold and you have 2 really fucking different teams. Browne is just an average college QB. He's not bad but he's nothing special. A full year of Darnold is gonna be fun as hell to watch this season. And I was no big fan of Smith-Schuster, he's very replaceable

He was so much fun to watch. People jizzed their pants, rightfully so, about Lamar Jackson, but as far as being a true pro-style QB. Darnold is money
Some people are still blowing Rosen, but I wanna see a full healthy season, and shoulder injuries for a QB scare the poop out of me. He's not on Darnold's level, and has a lot of convincing to prove otherwise to me

It's hard for me to say Darnold will be the next (first?) great USC QB to make it in the NFL. Lord knows, I've seen disappointment in close to 50 years.
But...

I never got the Leonard and Sanchize hype, they were nice players surrounded by insane talent. Carson Palmer had a damn good career and probably would have been even better if Kimo Von Olhoffen didn't destroy his knee. Darnold looks like he has all the tools, but his pro career is of no consequence right now, he's got a season to play for USC

He played golf with the guy regularly until his COPD (FIL) started cutting down his playing time. Here's Coach's assessment of his QB. "Dumb as a bag of rocks..." Can't make it up.

After the way June Jones walked out on SMU in 2014 after starting the season 0-2, if I were Hamilton I wouldn't spend a lot of time considering him for a permanent position either.

Hackenberg is an untalented pile of shit, he can't even complete passes in practice. Then he leaves PSU and the team skyrockets like a giant weight was tied to a helium balloon and the rope was just cut. And I do not like Penn State at all, so I hate taking their side

Bottom line, Crapenberg was never ever going to be any good. He doesn't have those things they call "talent" or "ability"

He good. Really, really good. Watched some random college football program last night (flipped between OSU/Tulsa and tOSU/IND) and I recall the talking heads running through a list of players to watch and at the end one them said "And don't forget about Saquon Barkley"... I thought of you and your indignation over such a thing.

Don't bash Herbie, he calls it all down the middle. Doesn't favor OSU in his analysis at all, which is impressive for a Fuckeye. He's the opposite of Darth Holtz
