You're right, Vegas is just like St Louis or whatever other city you want to compare it to. Its not like its the entertainment capital of the world or anything. No chance that every major touring event will end up here, in a brand new stadium. Oh, and... I understand now why Pete didn't get the message at first. Luckily, online I found a site that translates everything into Nevadanese. Here it is in Nevada speak: Marshawn Lynch is from Oakland, uh uh uh uh, dat's errrr, why he's goigg t' play f' de Raidehs. He will nebeh play a down f' de Las Begas football team. Glad we could clear that up. Misplaced anger, is misplaced Who's your scriptwriter #realdonaldtrump

I get that you are upset about them leaving, but to just be a dumbfuck and attack me seems pretty lame. You are the one who doesn't get it. I never claimed this was a win against Oakland. You guys are the ones that took the stance that it wasn't going to happen, its going to fail, blah blah blah. You are too emotionally invested to have a clear though about it. You are mad at me for being happy that Vegas is getting an NFL team. Good for you. "nevadans are dumb" Salty rottman

We should be angry and demand that Oakland move somewhere else. All anger should be directed according with Salty Rottman's.

I have no issue with that, it was the comment that reminded me of a serial tweeter that became POTUS. If the entire state of Nevada is retarded I'd blame it on the nuclear testing of the 50's and early 60's

Biggest problem here is the Mark Davis probably doesn't actually have the cash on hand to pay Carr the signing bonus he's going to want. Carr's probably in the neighborhood of about a $40M sb, those are usually paid out within the first 12 months. $40 million represents quite a few egg rolls from PF Chang's & numerous full tanks of gas for Mark's minivan. He's going to have to cut down on getting the ranch dip for his wings the next time he's at Hooters. Hopefully he can still afford a hooker every now and then.

Maybe the state of Nevada can kick down some tax cash for Carr's signing bonus.

It's the guaranteed money that'd be the problem the league mandates that all guaranteed money be held in escrow by the team till it's paid. Kinda archaic for a league that is a license to print money. Problem is this is Davis' only income well besides the money bestowed on him by the State of Nevada

Let's see a billion dollar investment that you used 10-12 times a year. That a good enough reason What blame a politician for being fiscally responsible. You have any idea how many emergency personnel (police, fire paramedics, nurses doctors) be hired with 750 Million dollars Baseball no they want a new park too, they may end up in Montreal the way things are going I never said it was unlikely you were saying them were definitely coming and I just showed a few examples of other franchises that were definitely moving and didn't. Until the other owners said yes and they gave them a sweetheart relocation fee of only 300M or so compared to the 650 the Rams and Chargers paid. There still is that obstacle as Davis is equity rich and cash poor, after all his dad stole the team basically, and like the Bengals Brown he isn't part of the billionaires boys club of owners. He is over extended putting this deal together and there is still the possibility, however slim at this point, that the house of cards gets blown over. Saw it happen here when the owner of the Canucks bought the Grizzlies and built an arena with no government money only to watch the Canadian dollar plummet and his money crisis forced him to take on an investor who then forced him out sold the BB team which moved to Memphis, funny the crappy team we had here still drew better that the current competitive team in Memphis, but I digress. The moral is until they sign the actual agreement and the shovel hits the ground there is always a likelihood that the team doesn't make it to Vegas although at this point I'd say less that 10% chance they stay due to some unforeseen circumstance that hasn't reared it's head as of yet. So watch for the formal agreement and shovel ceremony 10-12 times a year? What lousy kind of city could only find use for a new state of the art stadium 10 to 12 times a year? I hear you on the shoves not hitting the dirt yet, but this is not close to a %10 deal. Billionaires don't walk from free money like that, and even Davis did sell the team, Its not going to change things. A new billionaire owner is surely going to want to move forward. It going to happen. Well the shovels hit the dirt Raiders break ground on new stadium in Las Vegas

Jon Gruden is back, and the Raiders could be better than everPosted by Mike Florio on January 9, 2018, 3:50 PM EST No victories happen during press conferences. But what happens at a press conference can provide a glimpse of what can happen when it’s time to play the games. In his first press conference as the new-old coach of the Oakland Raiders, Jon Gruden projected the energy and demeanor that could inspire a room full of grown men to get the most out of their abilities. Honed by nine years of broadcasting, Gruden may be an even better communicator than he was when he coached the Buccaneers and, before that, the Raiders. “I never wanted to leave the Raiders,” Gruden said. “I never thought I’d be back, but here I am.” Gruden said that he returned for four reasons: He loves football, the City of Oakland, the Raiders, and winning. “No guarantees, no promises, but I want to win,” Gruden said, before pointing out that he hasn’t won a game since 2008 — but that he hasn’t lost one, either. Gruden said he’s been talking to Raiders owner Mark Davis for the last six or seven years about the Raiders, and about “ways that we could improve the Raiders.” He said that Davis called him “a few weeks ago” (and then he corrected himself to say “a couple of weeks ago”) to see if Gruden had any intentions of coaching. “Yes I do,” Gruden said, adding that it all came together in a “mysterious” way — a description far more accurate and telling than he likely intended. Gruden said his schedule hasn’t changed at all, including his just-ask-him-and-he’ll-tell-you habit of getting up before 4:00 a.m. The game has changed, however. Specifically, the rules regarding practices and offseason interactions have become much more restricted. Gruden openly lamented the inability of players and coaches to work together from January to April, and he’ll surely be frustrated about that as he tries to get to work with his new quarterback, Derek Carr. Gruden spoke with passion about playing in Oakland, saying that he hopes to fill up the Black Hole with Raiders fans “at least seven or eight more times.” “There is unfinished business as a coach,” Gruden said. “I was traded. I was fired. . . . For my [Raiders] career to end that night in New England, it still ticks me off.” He’s referring to the last game the notorious Tuck Rule contest from early 2002. And he made it very clear early in the press conference that he’s not just ticked off about the fact that his last game as a Raiders coach came via a loss in the playoffs at New England. He’s ticked off about the now-defunct Tuck Rule. “Brady fumbled that ball,” Gruden said. Gruden didn’t fumble the ball during his introductory press conference. Whether he carries the ball as the coach of the Raiders for the second time remains to be seen. So far, there’s reason to believe that great days are coming. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/01/09/jon-gruden-is-back-and-the-raiders-could-be-better-than-ever/
