has a guy averaging nearly 30 ppg ever been on an all star bench? im actually asking. There's a guy in the west averaging a triple double and he is an all-star bench player. i know, but that didnt answer my question.

OK will that was my subtle way of telling you that my answer is "who gives a shit?" He's not averaging 30 points a game first of all. It's a completely arbitrary stat second of all. There's a guy in the Western Conference averaging 31 points a game and he is also on the bench. And fourth of all this is the first year that starters haven't been completely chosen by the fans. So again. Who gives a shit?

Nah, it seems like I'm more on an island with regards to Thomas then rock is. I like the Isaiah, I really do. But he is obscenely overrated in this town. Like I said. There are 30 to 40 players in the league that I would take over him in a second.

You don't bash danny ainge.....but yet you would take 30-40 players over him in a second. You list multiple players on teams that are worse than the Celtics. Which if you want to go that way, fine. But then don't you gotta say this is all Stevens and Ainge, despite having all these picks stockpiled, can't produce a top 40 player in the NBA on the roster?

Because I don't sit there and think that there are all of these other huge move the Danny Ainge could have done. He got Isaiah Thomas in a trade for a bucket of shit whistles. That was a great trade. I don't fault him for that. I think a choir and Isaiah Thomas was a great move. I mean look around the NBA year after year. You can count on one hand the amount of elite talent trades happen in the course of five or six years. Other than James Harden? Can you think of any elite players that have been traded in the past five years? It's just not that easy to do. Teams protect the assets that they have. Danny Ainge blew up the big three Celtics and in the course of one season have them back in the playoffs. In the course of three seasons as I'm competing for the number two seed in the east. No. They're not legit contenders. But they've got a shit ton of assets to continue to work with. And I think he will keep working with them.

Hell let's go back a decade. I'm trying to think of elite talent trades in the NBA. There's James Harden to the Rockets. Carmelo Anthony to the next. Powder salt of the Lakers. Chris Paul to the clippers. Kevin Garnet to Boston. I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two. But you get the idea.

But they didn't get really good until they picked up Cayenne Pepper from the Pacers.

Kawhi Leonard for George Hill. Andrew Wiggins for Kevin love. Cleveland's going to regret that one. I don't care that they want to ring. They're gonna regret that.

That Wiggins for love deal is what I am fixated on for the Celtics. If they finally catch a break with the lottery balls and they get that number one pick in this coming draft? Make a godfather offer for Anthony Davis.
Both Brooklyn picks, Crowder, Rozier and Bradley...

I have IT ranked a bit higher than #40, but he is wildly overrated in this town. His defense is a real liability. He tries though.

The pressure on Ainge is going to build this offseason if he does not do something before.
Obviously none of us know what he has been offered or what he has offered to this point.

Thomas gets everything he can out of his size, but that doesn't change the fact that his size is still a huge liability. It's like the drummer for Def Leopard. Sure, he's great for a one armed drummer. He is probably the best one armed drummer in the world. I'd still prefer a two armed drummer

We don't know, but the owners do. Nobody wants to be in NBA limbo, and we have heard all about that mediocrity friend zone that teams can get themselves in. That said, I'm sure that he has done a fairly good job at communicating with the owners that this is not where the Celtics are. Those limbo teams remain in limbo because being the 4 seed gets you a pick in the 20s and that shit gets you nowhere. Danny has a succession of top 5 picks that should get them somewhere. Of course, no guarantees and all. But if he can't pull off the huge deal for a stud like Davis, or a Butler plus something comparable to Butler, then he is "stuck" adding 2 more very high picks to a 4-seed quality team. That's not NBA limbo. That's hope.

I'm old school, but guys like Bernard King, Alex English, Kiki Vandeweghe & Dominique Wilkins used to score a ton of points and rarely started. I'm sure there are more recent examples. I haven't watched the NBA since Garnett & Pierce left the Celtics, though.
