Not the two I expected when this all began. Could have made a tempting argument for the Pens. But the Sharks? Not a chance in hell. Here's a little odd fact... For first time in ECHL history, the teams meeting in the Kelly Cup Finals will see their affiliates meet in the Stanley Cup Final

For first time in ECHL history, the teams meeting in the Kelly Cup Finals will see their affiliates meet in the Stanley Cup Final Didn't realize that. Wheeling was holding its own until the Baby Pens were eliminated. After that all the call ups to Wilkes-Barre went back down and now there doing pretty good. It worked the other way for the Baby Pens. When Pittsburgh eliminated Washington all the call ups went down to Hershey and they steam rolled the Pens after that. Hershey is up 3 - 0 against the Marlies, so they are looking good for the Calder Cup finals. Would have loved to seen Wilkes-Barre make a run with Murray in the net, but he may get the big Cup yet.

I'm sure I'll make at least one game this weekend. And I have some skin in this one. Local furniture store is a big sponsor for Allen. We bought around $1,100 of stuff for our daughter at Christmas. They were running a promotion that if Allen repeats as Kelly Cup champs, our furniture is paid for. #RockTheRed

No no no. He has enough weight already. One of the local broadcast people asked him, not in so many words, but how he looked gassed at times. He acknowledged and commented how he hasn't ever played this deep into the playoffs before. I'm hoping Gary Roberts gets a hold of him in the off season and whips him into a little better shape.

Two thoughts on that. First, Kessell is not someone who is going to put the team on his shoulder and carry them. He is a highly talented role player, but he isn't a leader. The reason he is doing so well now in Pittsburgh is he doesn't have the pressure of being a team leader on him. Plus he's on the third line and the teams have focus on Sid and Geno before they can even think of him. The Caps didn't have the depth to deal with the HBK line, but the Bolts slowed them down some. (Though the Bolts didn't have an answer for the 4th line.) Second, the man is exhausted. They show him on the bench and all you see is the top of his helmet. He needs to take a break, and work on his golf game again.
