Are we talking about the same guy? 21HR .334/.446/.779 in 2015 For him, that's meh. No we are not. You must be talking about Cano, whereas I was talking about the guy mention in the orip post, the one that plays almost every game.
"But no one is in the class of Adrian Gonzalez"

AG has a good chance of making the HOF, Complier's Wing. Solid, consistent player. This generation's Tony Perez.

Hey Cotton! What can you tell us about Elias? He'll be as good as anyone in your rotation not named David Price. There will be days when you love him and there will be days when you hate him. Thanks. That's what the numbers look like too. We'll be seeing him for sure. Whether he's first man up or not depends, but he'll be up.

I wonder how much that shoulder injury his first year in Boston hurt him. Seemed like he was just hitting the peak of the bell curve, and really hasn't been the same guy since. Still good but not the path I expected to see for sure.

"68.9% of Noah Syndergaard's fastballs were 98 MPH+ yesterday. His perceived fastball touched 100 MPH+ 19 times."
now, what the fuck is a perceived fastball?

Ken Griffey, Edgar Martinez, ARod & Jay Buhner never opened a Mariners season by homering in 3 games in a row. But Robbie Cano now has!

I saw someone tweet that Chris Young reached 89 on his fastball during the first inning. Then Thor struck someone out on a 91 MPH changeup.

"68.9% of Noah Syndergaard's fastballs were 98 MPH+ yesterday. His perceived fastball touched 100 MPH+ 19 times." now, what the fuck is a perceived fastball? It's based on location, release point height, and deception of delivery. A 6'7" guy who hides the ball well and throws high gas at 98 seems faster to a batter than a 5"11" guy who shows the ball and throws middle-in at the knees. I buy the part about deceptive delivery and the height a bit. Not sure why a letter high fastball seems faster than a knee high one.

"If it is 90 +, it is likely a fastball"

Likely only his mom knows and cares.
Jeremy Hazelbaker is starting in center field for the Cardinals on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.

It's all bullshit to an extent, but I do appreciate some attempt to explain (and eventually to predict) how some guys can be effective living at 90-92 and some guys suck at 95-96. It's not all location.
