And... we start with this little gem. Sonny Gray goes on strike binge vs. Texas RangersThis in particular caught my eye... Hope I don't get too depressed to stay with this. It's gonna be a long season. Almost getting no-hit on opening night... not necessarily a good omen.

Well - after 4 games, this much is clear. Nothing...
Nice outing for Nick Martinez.

They can't be as bad last year if only because they can't be as injury-riddled this season. But they are the youngest team in the league - and that's with Beltre at 36 and Choo no spring chicken. Like the Stars - I just need to see progress. It's not about this year.

Derek Holland has a sub scapular strain in his left shoulder. Expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Ryan Rua leaves the clubhouse in a walking boot. Expected to go on DL.
Lord - I apologize for saying this season couldn't possibly be worse than last season. Sincerely.

Blow a 5 run lead.
Twice. In the same game.
Try to get a 5 out appearance from Feliz. This after Scheppers was Gawd Awful.
Hello last place. Can I set a spell. We should become quite familiar with one another.

One thing for sure... Josh will sell a few tickets. And as long as that bitch he's married to only shows up for the divorce proceedings, he will probably be welcomed here.

Don't see why they would help bail a division rival out by taking him even if they are paying 75% or so of the contract to play for their rivals in Texas

Period. This team is going absolutely nowhere. At the absolute best - the Rangers are a 4th place team in the West (which - by the way - isn't exactly lighting up the baseball world with quality teams). For the Rangers - it's very little risk. At the best, if Josh's shoulder is OK and his head is too and he can give them what he gave the Angels the last two years (21 HR's... 90+ RBI's), then he's is an improvement over the gaggle of spares we have out there right now (including that useless Choo) and isn't impeding the progress of anyone who won't be here in two years anyway. If he's done - he's gone next season with zero financial impact to the team. For the Angels - they own him $65M. Period. No getting around it. They are stuck with 80% of his salary. It impacts their ability to sign players. They eat it. It's a win-win. No pressure on him. No pressure on the team. As long as that bitch Katie isn't coming back here, I would bet most Ranges fans are OK with this.

@evan_P_Grant - Rangers relievers have allowed 20 inherited runners to score this season, most in the majors.

Sonny Gray walked 7 and hit a batter.
Rangers took a combined 10 bases on balls and hit batters. They scored a run. Last time an AL team took 10 free bases and failed to score more than a run - 2007.
This team is bad. Maybe not Brewer bad - but they will be.

As of this morning, the Texas Rangers are one game under .500...
If you have made a bet with me on May 1 that I would have just typed that, you would have won a whole shit load of money.

Only got to hear the recap last night after I flew back in from Virginia but it sounds like he pitched really well in his first MLB start. Heard his interview after the game... the kid sounds really comfortable. He's the first of the "Kiddie Korp" down in Round Rock. There are more.
