Ha! That would be a laugh! I posted this yesterday on Welcome Truth and Rumors, Message Board and TD Refugees. I'm sure you did not see it... _____________________ Got booted out of Hoopla today, but got in a parting shot... I don't think you are dumb Hammer, but you are fucking Paranoid. I don't get it. I was in fact on your website as tigertowner68. I never did anything to get banned. I have not been on the site for, oh, I am not sure, maybe a year or so. I have since got married as I said, then just yesterday thought it might be fun to go back to your website (that I never was thrown out of and pretty much had fun on) but as my alter ego, the SF fan. Then I get this rousing ovation from you. You call me Cocktard loser? In the middle of a public portion of your website? What kind of an admin does anything with such low class? You, ya asshole. No real admin with half a brain uses such language toward another person on his siter when the other person never provoked such language. Warm regards to you too ya prick. Guess this is the way it is when you are a SD fan, you fuckers have never won anything! I had no intent of ever posting under each id, and have not. What was I supposed to do, write you a letter and ask for your approval? Talk about paranoia. What do you think I was going to do, hack the site? Burn your house down? Sorry that I entertained the thought of coming back to post some and have a little fun. I have been thrown out of nicer places than this dump. I am not losing out on any fun missing out on this fucking gestapo. Adios asshole. Then I posted the ban comminique... SportsHoopla.com Sports Forums - Error You have been banned for the following reason: Shitty troll and alt. Fuck off and die, dude. ________________________ "Speaking words of wisdom, Let it Be". Wow. Even worse treatment and send off as I received. My sin there was in getting people to use this site as well as that one. However, due to the kindness of Mr. Black Francis, He loaned me his i.d there to make the post I wanted to there today. I will have to check back in with him a.s.a.p to see if that lead to him being banned there as well. I really hope not. So, with this post from you today, it just further cements the fact that I have no use for Hammer or that site, and never will. Good bye to bad rubbish. Mr. Black Francis. I admire the guy. He's a Mt. Rushmore of posting. You, him and probably rock strongo. Or cotton malone. Even though I had a dust-up with him, he's definitely a very top notch poster (and I think that the hatchet's buried..I hope).

For them to spar with you is a level of acceptance, IMO. They just like stirring up shit a lot more than I do.
Different styles....

March 1. No more farting around on this site for me, and time to get down to the business of baseball more full time. I'll start putting up what general MLB info I can find in my den, and save the more fantasy-centric stuff for this years fantasy thread.
And, speaking of fantasy, I still have openings I need to fill, and will hope that you will consider joining up with me, and vets of past fantasy seasons and message boards.
If you are still looking for a league, and are interested in joining up to play for free, then I have spots for you.
Right now, I have 1 spot for a league drafting on 3/14 @ 8 a.m pacific, one on 3/14 @ 9:30 a.m pacific, and, as of tomorrow, I will have 3 spots for the one drafting on 3/15 @ 9 a.m pacific.
Interested? Can you help me out? Let me know via a private message, and I will send you the invite.
Many thanks in advance.

Nothing as underwhelming as making a choice without quality options.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Jimmy Rollins will serve as the team's leadoff man. Mattingly indicated last week that he wasn't completely committed to Rollins in the leadoff spot, but he said Tuesday that they "don't truly have anyone else who fits in that role." He's not wrong, but Rollins isn't the ideal leadoff hitter either, as he owns a .319 on-base percentage over the last three seasons. Still, it certainly enhances his fantasy value for 2015 if he sticks there.

The latest on and from Masahiro Tanaka.
For his part Tanaka blames poor mechanics for the strained on his UCL last year and believes he will be fine with mechanical adjustments:
“I don’t think they were solid,” Tanaka told Yahoo Sports through interpreter Shingo Horie recently. “With the right mechanics, the right form, the right balance, you’re able to throw a solid pitch. It’s not about how much power you can put on the throw. It’s more about the mechanics. That’s what I believe.
I have no idea whether Tanaka and the Yankees were right or wrong to decide agains Tommy John surgery. I’ll leave that up to the orthopedic surgeons with whom he and the team consulted and trust that they got good advice and are acting on that good advice.
But the mechanics stuff interests me. Specifically, it will be worth watching as the season begins whether Tanaka has truly altered his mechanics in a way visible to us in the stands. And whether that impacts his effectiveness or creates other problems, as pitchers who change their mechanics up often experience.

Shrewd fantasy owners will be watching key position battles this month in order to understand the depth charts of all the teams. Following is a look at the 10 battles that merit close attention by owners.
• Red Sox center field and right field (Rusney Castillo vs. Mookie Betts vs. Shane Victorino): Manager John Farrell has already said that a healthy Victorino -- who played in 30 games in 2014 -- will serve as the starting right fielder, which leaves Castillo and Betts to compete for the center-field job. Castillo, 27, may be the favorite, but he is dealing with an oblique injury, and Betts' potential as a leadoff hitter could allow him to steal the job.
Prediction: Either Castillo or Victorino starts the season on the disabled list, giving Betts a chance to strut his stuff. All three fall short of 500 at-bats, but all have mixed-league relevance for parts of the season.
• Yankees closer (Dellin Betances vs. Andrew Miller): Both relievers posted extremely low ratios and K/9 rates above 13.0 last season, which means that the winner of this battle will instantly become a top-tier closer. Betances holds an edge over Miller because he is right-handed and because he was a huge asset for the organization in 2014. Miller's advantage can be traced to his massive contract and that he is usually a one-inning reliever, whereas Betances can work multiple frames.
Prediction: Betances is a top-five closer this season. Miller does not exceed five saves.
• Astros closer (Luke Gregerson vs. Chad Qualls): Qualls was a solid fireman during the first half of 2014, but his 5.68 ERA after the All-Star break opened the door for Houston to assess other options. Gregerson -- who has a 2.75 career ERA and 1.08 WHIP -- has flashed closer-worthy skills for several seasons.
Prediction: Gregerson wins the role and emerges as a useful mixed-league closer.
• Blue Jays closer (Brett Cecil vs. Aaron Sanchez): After declining to add relievers in recent months, the Blue Jays will find a closer among their incumbent hurlers. Cecil briefly flashed closer-worthy skills in 2013, but his other seasons have been shaky enough to result in a 4.38 career ERA. Sanchez allowed 14 hits in 33 innings last season, which led to a superb 1.09 ERA.
Prediction: Cecil and Sanchez both earn saves in April, but the youngster emerges as the primary option.
• Dodgers center field (Joc Pederson vs. Andre Ethier): Fantasy owners are drooling over the thought of Pederson, who notched 33 homers and 30 steals in 121 Triple-A games last season, racking up 500 at-bats as the starting center fielder. The Dodgers could try to recoup some of their massive investment in Ethier by putting him into the center-field mix, even though he seems better suited for the corners.
Prediction: Pederson wins the job but falls short of 500 at-bats due to the Dodgers' depth, which also includes Chris Heisey and Scott Van Slyke.
• Indians fifth starter (Danny Salazar vs. T.J. House vs. Zach McAllister vs. Josh Tomlin): Salazar has racked up 185 K's in 162 Major League innings, which makes him a high-upside sleeper if he earns the final rotation spot. House could be a terrific value pick if he wins this battle, as he posted a 2.53 ERA in 10 second-half starts last season. McAllister and Tomlin are long shots to win the job or factor into mixed leagues.
Prediction: Salazar wins the job and is a mixed-league asset, despite producing inconsistent results. A rotation spot opens for House by the end of May, and he quickly finds his way onto mixed-league rosters.
• Mariners shortstop (Brad Miller vs. Chris Taylor): Miller was supposed to wrap up this job last season but squandered the opportunity when he hit .204 in the first half. Taylor hit .328 in Triple-A in 2014 and then had a successful debut with the Mariners.
Prediction: Taylor becomes the primary shortstop. Miller steals some playing time from Taylor and also picks up the occasional start at other infield positions. Neither dents 12-team mixed rosters.
• Mariners fifth starter (Roenis Elias vs. Taijuan Walker): Elias posted a 3.85 ERA in 163 2/3 innings during a solid rookie season. Walker's career Minor League numbers -- 3.65 ERA, 1.23 WHIP -- are nothing special, but he has been labeled as a top prospect for several seasons and posted a 2.61 ERA in 38 frames with the Mariners last season.
Prediction: Elias is four years older and has much more Major League experience, and those factors help him win the Opening Day rotation spot. Walker starts the season in Triple-A but is in the Majors by May and instantly becomes mixed-league relevant.
• Pirates shortstop (Jung Ho Kang vs. Jordy Mercer): Sure, it was the Korean Baseball Organization, but homers are homers, and Kang hammered 40 of them in 2014. Mercer hit .255 with 12 homers and four steals in 506 at-bats last season, so he will fall to waivers in mixed leagues no matter how this battle plays out.
Prediction: This battle drags into the regular season, but eventually Kang starts to push Mercer into a backup role. Kang posts a batting average below .250, but his power is notable enough to warrant a roster spot in deeper formats.
• Cardinals fifth starter (Carlos Martinez vs. Marco Gonzales vs. Jaime Garcia): Martinez posted an impressive 2.61 ERA while working almost exclusively as a starter in the Minors, and he is the front-runner for this job despite posting inconsistent results as a reliever with the Cards in 2014. Gonzales has less Major League experience than Martinez, but he is the same age and has his own set of impressive Minor League numbers. Garcia used to be a rotation staple, but injuries have limited him to 89 1/3 innings since 2013.
Prediction: Martinez maintains his lead and earns a rotation spot. Gonzales finds his way into the rotation by midseason and garners mixed-league attention. Garcia also makes some starts but is not added in most fantasy formats.

Yu Darvish (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure. Darvish understandably wanted to get a few opinions before officially deciding to have the operation, but this news was inevitable. The right-hander will miss all of the 2015 season and almost surely the beginning of 2016, as well. It's obviously a massive blow to a Rangers squad looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2014 campaign.

In connection to and mindful of my last post above, I wanted to mention what I will call "The other draft prep". By now, a lot of leagues have had their live drafts for this year, with many others to follow. And, for those drafts, guys do any and all kinds of draft preparation, including mock drafts, player evaluations, and so on. However, I feel like there is another kind to be mindful of, in a specific way. That being, the prep one needs to do if you will likely be missing your live draft.
On most sites, there is both a pre-set ranking of players that you can use to handle your draft with, and a more individual one that lets you rank all of MLB yourself. I have found that most use or work off of a pre-set list provided to them, as most do not ave the time to rank over 300 guys ourselves.
To that end, there is always a problem or issue, each and every year. That being, that no matter how hard fantasy sites try, they never seem to keep their rankings up to date.
Here is where Darvish comes in. In Yahoo, as of yesterday, they still had Darvish listed at # 36 of guys to draft. And, guess what? If you are autodrafting on Yahoo, then YOU WILL GET STUCK WITH HIM.
So, my point, if I really have one, is this. If you do not have the time or inclination to pre rank all players yourself in advance of a draft you will not be attending, your should at least take the time and take advantage of the ability to put guys on a don't draft list.
I know I did, with Darvish the first guy on it, and with Josh Hamilton being added to it as well.
Just some food for thought guys, knowing full well how hard it is to re-tool a team you yourself did not pick, without these types of "landmines" that should be avoided.

Yes, sometimes it is not possible to be in attendance at your live draft. Life happens. But a little advance due diligence will save your bacon. I have 19 players on my excluded list. I have a draft in 3 hours and I have no intention of missing it. But what if my PC decided it just has to take a shit on me? It has happened. So listen to bigd. It is just the right way to go about your fantasy business.

In a league, that counts saves..only have 2 closers; Chapman and Holland. League uses 3 SPs, 2 RPs, and 2 P positions. 7 SPs on roster. Bottom 4 are, Garrett Richards, Yordano Vertura, Michael Wacha, and Verlander. Would you drop one(which one) and pick up Sean Doolittle in FA...or try and trade..say Verlander for either Storen or Rodney?

Either way you're in pretty good shape for saves with those 2. I'm waaaay behind the 8 ball getting ready for my drafts so someone may have better advice than me but I wouldn't cut any of those guys for Doolittle. Seems like closers are easy enough to add later as long as you're on top of things, know when a closer is close to losing his job or gets hurt...

and whilst I'm in here,,,I was looking for a site to play for $$$ since Yahoo doesn't have that option anymore and CBS is a rip off. Ended up signing upon Real Time Fantasy Sports. After I paid for a team I noticed some weird stuff like starting 2 catchers, 5 OFs, MI/CI...big line ups. And it seems they are overly concerned with collusion...If a guy drafted in the 1st 5 rounds gets dropped he cant be picked upby anyone...later in the year no player that gets dropped can be picked up...messed up stuff, Oh and NO Trades
glad I "only" paid $30.
always read the fine print!

It is roto.....did notice most teams just had 2 closers. Still like the extra one, seeing as he is a FA. I could drop Corey Seager, since he might not make the Show til mid may or later, and this isnt a keeper league, but was going to try and dangle him for BHam since the league uses steals, and i am strapped for them.

He has yet to pitch this spring, yet is not expected to be out for a "lengthy" period. Hmmm. If you take on Doolittle, I'd at least taker a flyer on Tyler Clippard as a "handcuff". He is opening as the A's closer to start the season. Or just take Clippard period. He's good enough that Doolittle may take some time to get back in the closer role when he returns. Ventura is an arm injury waiting to happen, i.m.o.

I'm probably getting to this way too late, but still, here goes. If this is not a keeper league, then you have no use for Corey Seager. Kyle is the only Seager brother that will be fantasy relevant this year.

Not too late, and I was thinking same....now if this was 2016? ..I do think Corey is gonna make it this year, but unless Rollins gets injured, won't make it til Sept.

I'm glad this reached you in time then. And, about adding another closer, you can always sit back and wait. There is enough turnover each year at the closer spot that you can probably get someone later, someone who is not even their teams closer at this exact moment.

That is true....especially with Chapman and Holland, already....My main challenge right now is gonna be lack of steals, with Leonys(sp) Martin my only threat... I do have three3Bs, but one is Bryant, and it seems the Cubs, for reasons unknown and mind boggling, seem content on starting him in AAA. The other 2 are Machado and Carpenter.........I am willing to wait out Bryant, imo, it shouldn't be more than 5-6 weeks, so once he is brought up, of the other two, who would you be willing to trade? leaning more toward a Machado trade, but alot can happen in the first 6 weeks.
