I feel bad you all were banned/fled the hoop. There are a lot of great posters over there. That said, selfishly, you all have livened up this board, so Ive got that going for me. Which is nice. That's the upside about all this shit. You guys have made us feel welcome without getting a sense of deja vu. Pays to see folks who have danced the same dance we did. It only reinforces the realization that place is a cancer. What a rotten site. I joined there via an invite from my pal bigddude following the dissolution of the CBS sports talk/chat site. There were some cool people there. Glad a lot of them found their way here. Hope more do. As for Hammer, f-him. |

It's sad that a thread such as Zig's current "Corner" entry is necessary.
It's sad that some people act like they own the Internet and all forums associated with the Internet.
It's incredibly sad that some people feel so entitled in their myopic Internet "ownership" that they can post anything they want to besmirch someone with comments like "criminal activity" without a smidgen of fact-based proof of said criminal activity other than "read it on KFFL".
And - it's beyond sad when a group of well intentioned yet naive lemmings follow the so-called leadership of this team of myopic and entitled fools without a hint of doubt as to their credibility because "well... Gee - surely these people wouldn't lie would they?"
For those who might be viewing this thread who aren't members of the "leadership" of Hoopla - I've said all I need to say about my dealings with Hammer and Fordman earlier in this thread (which - unlike their "member's only thread" - is open for anyone to see). I will only add that the similarities between what happened to former Hoop subscribers who were in Zig's membership before we got here and what happened to many of the former FN'ers who landed here after their bannings are eerily similar. In fact - it's like there is a Hoopla book on "how to ban and ridicule and lie one's ass off" when running someone away.
And - if accusing someone of criminal actions without credible facts to support the accusation wasn't bad enough - now they are using the actual name of someone they banned without the expressed permission of said individual... then claim ignorance and do nothing about it while continuing to use the ban hammer indiscriminately. Anyone who would trust their personal information (such as an email address) with those people should be very, very wary of how those people use it. They have no regard for you as a person - much less as a member of their little world.
I don't understand why they feel compelled to continue to bash Zig... as well as bash those of us who made a conscious decision to move on from the Hoop. And I certainly don't understand why they have this feeling that they need to squash the little bug that is SC relative to their Size 13-EEE shoe. For whatever reason they can't let things go and just move on (or - as Hammer himself said... "If you don't enjoy posting here, then leave quietly".) All I do know - crossing the line and condoning the use of a person's real name in an alt without their permission or making unsubstantiated accusations towards people under the guise of "criminal activity" goes beyond the realm of decency. It's sorry... it's sad.

I can't comment on the NBA since I don't watch anymore. I quit when the Knicks traded #14, who recently passed away. I enjoy letting them go on with their spiel as long as possible too. Especially the ones that are clearly reading from a script in monotone voices that cry out "I hate this shit!" I even told one of them "You don't read too well, you know".
Also get a kick out of the ones that can't even pronounce my name. That usually garners a "Oh - this is a personal call then" response.

One of my favorites is when they call for my 83 year old grandmother and I say "this is she". You can literally hear the gears inside of their heads coming to a screeching halt followed by moments of silence and them stuttering to find their next line to repeat. I prefer to cut them off before they get started on their shtick. A quick "not interested" saves me wasting my scarce valuable free time. More fun though is when a Joho or a Mormon knocks on my door. Then they can actually see the look of disdain on my face as I shut the door in their faces before they've opened their yaps. They don't even get a word out before they are sent packing with their Awake pamphlets or Book of Mormon in hand.... My wife always opened the door with a low cut blouse and the rosary dangling between both breasts |
