Wasn't really sure where to put this. The lounge? A general board? Up my.......
I work midnight shift. On top of being a tad crazy to begin with, it affords me plenty of time for my mind to wander and ample oppurtunity to let the crazy get out of hand due to lack of sleep/fighting to stay awake. With that said I often come up with these somewhat random questions. A lot of times when I have local sports talk radio on to break up the silence, some times while surfing around here and reading what people write or the teams they choose to support.
1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do? Mine is pretty simple. I was born and raised in South West Philadelphia. I root for all things Philly.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely? I would abandon the sport or more appropriately the league and consider a return when/if a team was returned.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event? For me this is a tough call between 1993 world series and 2005 SB. But given 2008 happened and it would have only sent the 93 WS to a game 7, I'm choosing the 05 SB. I'm Donovan McNabb. I'm not ignoring a wide open T.O. on third down who had nothing in between him and the end zone with probably less than 5 seconds on the clock.
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team? I'd probably have been a Bills fan. When I was around 6-10 years old I remember goingto my uncles for a SB party every year. They were always there. They wore red, white and blue. Jim Kelly is from PA. Thurman Thomas was the man. Bruce Smith a monster. I loved that team and there were no Ravens then.(The Ravens being the next closest team geographically.)
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why? Donovan McNabb. I wish he would shut up and fade off into the sunset and stop commenting on things Eagles related.
May have more later. Answer all, answer some, ignore it completely, it's up to you. Served its purpose by passing time and giving me something to focus on.

1. Grew up in New Mexico with only 2 TV stations...only game we got was the Cowboys. I have followed them from the beginning 2. Would like to say yes I would still follow them, but in reality probably not...another angle to this question....YOU move, do you still follow the old team? I find I am getting more and more into the Saints, tho when they play each other I'm a Cowboys fan 3. Easy...the Ice Bowl...I would make Kramer NOT get so low and give Pugh more traction to stop Starr...Cowboys win first SB and start their Dynasty. Second choice would be the pass to Jackie Smith in SB XIII against the Steelers (actually, any SB against the Steelers) 4. Packers were my choice before the Cowboys...big fan of Paul Hornung and Jim Taylor 5. Thomas Henderson..."Bradshaw couldn't spell CAT even if you spotted him the C and T"...

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?
First team I fell for was the Cowboys - second was the Raiders. This was during the NFL/AFL days when old people went with one or the other but us kids usually chose one in either league. I was a kid in California... my dad was a Cowboys fan... the Raiders had the Mad Bomber throwing to Warren Wells along with all those cool dudes on defense... those were my teams and still are. As are the Stars, the Mavs and the Rangers - but the Cowboys are #1 and will be when I croak.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
The only one I would bail on would be the NBA. A true Mavs fan could never root for the Spurs or the Rockets... and no way in hell would I root for OKC Sonics. Baseball would get followed at an observational level. I would probably find a hockey team to root for but invest more in the minor league teams. And - I love the NFL too much to ever turn my back on it. I'm a whore.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
This one's easy. I would be Nelson Cruz and I would be in position to make that fucking catch in the 2011 World Series!
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
Growing up without the Mavs or Stars until they arrived, I'm pretty certain I would have stuck with my grade school allegiances of the Celtics and Black Hawks. They were on TV... they had those great players... and they weren't located in Los Angeles (if you grew up in the Central Coast of California, you were inundated with Dodgers and Lakers - it was sickening).
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accomplishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?
A tie between Ross Perot Jr. and Tom Hicks. Those two humans sucked all of the joy out of being a fan of the Mavs & Stars/Rangers with their stupid business models and declarations that Dallas couldn't compete with the big market teams and cash flows and just the entire side of sports that fans don't want to hear about. There are plenty of examples of organizations working well by hiring the right people and letting them do their damn jobs. Those two fools couldn't do that so they blamed it on fans not showing up. Fuck 'em.

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do? Grew up in Delaware and rooted for all things Philly. But I haven't lived back east in 20 years so all associations have faded over time. I attended PSU (as did much of my family) so that interest is still strong.
The Blues are more interesting. I took my son to his first hockey game for his third birthday. We were sitting 3 rows from the back. The Blues have a contest where 2 lucky fans move from crappy seats to the front row - but I didn't know this. I saw the camera guy walking around and told my son to get up and dance. He starts shaking his bad self and appears up on the big screen. I'm watching him dance and hear "WE HAVE A WINNER!" A cutey in a short skirt and Santa hat escorts us down to the front row. We got a game puck from the Ref, he flipped it up over the glass during a TV timeout. A few players waved at him through the glass. Yea, I'm a Blues fan for life.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely? No I would not follow them. I've relocated a few times and found that the emotional connection fades over time. I wouldn't pine over the team just like I wouldn't pine over an ex-girlfriend. I don't know what emotional connection would happen next (favorite PSU player, new team, I move, etc.) but I wouldn't force it. I only casually follow the NFL now. If the Rams went to LA, I wouldn't spend any more energy on them.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event? I agree on the 2005 SB. I've always felt McNabb lost that one more than Brady/NE won it. The City was in the 100 Seasons of Futility (http://www.si.com/more-sports/2008/05/19/philadelphia-drought). I was still an interested Phan. That would have meant the world to the City of Philadelphia instead of a footnote on the Brady-Manning debates.
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team? I was an Eagles fan but the Seahawks were my 'second' growing up. My uncle lived in Washington and attended games at eh Kingdome. He's send me game programs. I enjoyed the Kreig, Warner, Largent, Knox era in Seattle.
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why? Jerry Sandusky. EOM

Atlanta, born and raised here. Love the ACC teams, grew up watching them play at legendary Grant Field. Grew up watching UNC win championships. 2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
When the Flames and Thrashers relocated I pretty much stopped following hockey. I'll watch a game but I really don't care who wins. We've got the Gwinnett Gladiators, they are entertaining and they put on a good show. If the Braves relocated I would probably switch teams. Not sure which one I would adopt. If the Hawks relocated I would continue to follow them unless the new ownership dissed Atlanta. I would also take up following Orlando or Charlotte or Memphis. Memphis is a team I like now so it would probably be them. If the Falcons relocate I would switch to the Dolphins. Always have loved them ever since the Bob Griese days. 3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
Definitely the 98 season in which the Falcons got crushed in their only Superbowl appearance. I would also love to change the 1981 season so that UGA does not win the Nat'l championship so they would get beat by Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. 4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
College: Notre Dame, Boston College or NC State Pro: Dolphins, Orioles (my dad loved them, we lived in Balt. for 1 yr.), Magic or Grizzlies. Hockey: Yale, love their uniforms! 5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?
Atlanta Spirit, owner of the Hawks (soon selling them) and previous owner of the Thrashers. They SUCK.

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?
Grew up in Wyoming and hated homer Bronco fans (yes, that is redundant) passionately. 1st NFL game was Raiders v Broncos in Denver 1976. Loved the Raiders at first sight. A's fan since Rickey Henderson (favorite player). Coincidentally moved to the Bay area later in life. Now live in State of Jefferson, so Sacramento is closest NBA team - and Boogie Cousins is the player I root for. If they ever trade Boogie, I'll not root for the Kings anymore.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
Raiders for life. LA, Oakland, San Antonio, London, Bumfuck Iowa. Won't matter. Silver and Black until I die.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
2002 Kings Lakers Game 6. I would just have to knock Tim Donaghy out before the game started, and the rest would have taken care of itself. Not that I was much of a Kings fan then, but I just hate the fucking Lakers, and they absolutely weren't the best team that year.
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
Probably Seattle. Geographically, they were the next closest, plus back in the day they were an AFC West team.
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?
Bill Romanowski. He is truly an idiot.

1. Mine is pretty simple. I was born and raised in South West Philadelphia. I root for all things Philly. 2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?

I'd probably have been a Bills fan. When I was around 6-10 years old I remember goingto my uncles for a SB party every year. They were always there. They wore red, white and blue. Jim Kelly is from PA. Thurman Thomas was the man. Bruce Smith a monster. I loved that team and there were no Ravens then.(The Ravens being the next closest team geographically.) 5.
1) Born is Southern Cal. Lived there until 15, which gave me time to become fans of the Dodgers & Rams, and to a lesser extent, the Lakers and Kings. 2) At 15, I moved to the middle of the state, and further north still to San Jose a few years later. I have kept my fandom the same the whole time, as it would never occur to me to switch allegances. Really, who does that? That said, I can not say that I follow much outside of baseball anymore, as I really don't have the time to. That is what happens when you put yourself out on the interweb as an expert in a sport, meaning, you kind of have to keep up on each and every signing and detail. At least that is how I roll. 3) I would go back to 1954, and make sure the Dodgers hold onto Roberto Clemente, instead of them letting him to to the Pirates. 4) I would have found the Angels eventually. The Dodgers just had a stronger radio signal. Have I mentioned that I am kind of an old dude? 5) I'll need 2. First, I would make sure that former Rams owner Carroll Rosenbloom never meets Georgia Frontiere, much less never marries her. Second, I would make sure that Frank McCourt was never born, by any means necessary.

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?I am a rabid HABS fan. Grew up with HNIC on Saturday nights and EVERYBODY watched. The HABS not winning the cup was simply considered an off year. I have also been an Eagles for many years. Started back in the early '80's when I was in a bar with my buds and Philly was playing Dallas on the tube. Dallas had an amazing team and Philly was just stomping the crap out of them. My buddy was a rabid Dallas fan, so it was then I adopted Philly, just to keep him in check. 2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
The HABS? ? Not a chance, but if the Eagles ever re-located, I'd move on and probably adopt another team at some point. 3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
The 1967 Stanley Cup final when the HABS lost to the fucking Leafs. 4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
For hockey, I would probably be a Blackhawks fan. Solid original six team, and Bobby Hull!!! As for the NFL, probably the Packers or the Bears. 5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?
Mine is simple too, born, raised and still a Mass-Hole.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
Back in the mid 90's there was a lot talk of the Pats leaving town. I really can't imagine a worse thing that could happen to a fan. I guess I still would have followed them at least until we got a new team. Being Boston thankfully I dont have to worry about this much. Too big a market and "Sports town" to be without a team for very long if any of them left.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
2007 SB vs the Giants. Close runner up: Game 6 of the '86 World Series ( the Buckner game)
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
In baseball probably none. I'm a Sox fan but don't watch much baseball other than them. Football-probably the Giants as until around 7 years ago they were my "other" team I liked. Now, screw those guys man!
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?
Aaron Hernandez. He's just a little too murderous for my tastes...close runner up-Bobby Valentine

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do? Born and raised in NY. There's a reason for why I chose each team I root for as opposed to the other NY teams, but basically these were the teams I went to my first games and watched more often.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely? This is a tough one. I can't imagine rooting for other teams, but I feel like a big part of the reason I root for my teams is that they're in NY and represent my hometown, so I'd probably just stick with the sport and be neutral. That's basically what being a Jets fan is anyway since they're usually eliminated before Thanksgiving.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event? Game 4, 2004 ALCS. I know Mo's blown save in 2001 was for the WS, but if he could only go back and convert one, I'd rather it be to finish off the sweep against Boston. The rest wouldn't be history.
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team? Cop-out answer, but probably the other NY teams. It would be weird being a Mets or Isles fan, but I could see myself being a Giants fan.
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why? A-Rod.

1) Born and bred and still living in Metro Vancoucer 2) I've had the Grizzlies and Sonics move on me and I rarely watch NBA now 3) Made sure Barry Ackerley never went before the NHL expansion board www.seattlehockey.net/Seattle_Hockey_Homepage/Seattle_and_the_NHL.html (part of the reason Seattle wouldn't spring for a new arena) 4) I was a Habs fan before the Canucks were NHL and the Raiders and Lions in NFL so probably would have kept those alliances 5) Toss-up between Stu Jackson w/Grizz Keenan or Torts w/Canucks

Served its purpose by passing time and giving me something to focus on. 1. & 2. - SoCal teams sports fan, except for the Clippers, and with the addition of UofArkansas and BSU (football only). When the Rams announced they were moving to St. Louis, I vowed that I had disowned them. Was going to find a new team. When the season started, I discovered that despite my bravado to the contrary, I was a Rams fan. No matter where they play. Up to then I had assumed I was an L.A. fan. 3. - I guess I would have Roethlisberger have a mini-stroke on that final drive against the Cardinals in 2009 SB, and temporarily forget how to be a quarterback. 4. Not sure who my basketball team would be, probably the closest geographical team. Football and baseball would have been the Cowboys and the Yankees. Even when I was 8yrs old, the Cowboys got good press. Wanted badly to be Bullet Bob Hayes the Worlds Fastest Human. And the Yankees were the Yankees, Mantle especially impressed me. Would have been close between them and the Reds if Bench came up a couple of years sooner. 5. This one is disgustingly easy: Jim Buss. Now that I think about it, I should see if he's on Twitter and suggest to him that he should die.

Nice thread Macho !
#1 I was born in Maryland to poor hillbilly trash, so I was a Redskins and Colts fan, and saw a lot of Dolphins games, so I liked them too. I liked several teams as a kid, and the ones that I saw on the TV box all the time were my favorites.
When I was 10, we moved to Missouri ( there wasn`t enough tornadoes and ticks in Maryland I guess ) back in the 70`s there was no following a team like today, the games I saw here all the time were the Cardinals and Dallas.....so in the 70`s I was a Dallas fan. KC was never on tv, barely knew it was a team.
In 1989 an independent station started showing all the Chiefs games, that was when I became a Chiefs fan....hard to be a fan of a team you never see.
#2 Yes! I would still be a KC fan if the move. It is easy to follow and see a team now a days.
#3 Hmmmm....I can`t really think of nothing I would change....maybe in the 93 AFC championship game....the players would ass rape Shotenhiemer to death and let Joe run the offense so they could score......
#4 Well, I like so many teams that I may be less frustrated if the Chiefs didn`t exist.
#5 Larry fucking Johnson! That fucking ass bag piece of shit! He got rich off of Will Shields and Willie Roaf blocking for his tired lazy ass....any fool could have ran good behind those two. They retired...he held out and got big money...averaged 2.7 YPC, hurt the pussy bone in his ankle early that year, and was gone, fuck him!

My picks were only on football teams...I'll expand a bit. 1. Baseball would first the Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers. When the Dodgers moved to LA I quit them....now I root for the Texas Rangers....Basketball would be Celtics with Dallas a close 2nd. When I lived in Dallas it was Mavs, but now back to the Celtics. 2. Would more follow local teams just because you get so much press for them. I follow the Saints now, and am aware of the Pelicans...but will NOT...let me repeat that...will NOT root for any team in Atlanta. 3. Stay with the Ice Bowl 4. If no Rangers would be Yankees fan...if no Yankees not sure. Basketball would be whoever was closest 5. Would def include Sandusky in this one....and also Maserowski's homer to beat the Yankees. Little asshole...

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?
Nebraska because I was born there. The Braves because of TBS. The Mavericks because they had a player (Mark Aguirre) with a name similar to mine and I loved his game. The Flyers because I had no idea what hockey was until I moved near Philly 2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
I would probably still follow them. 3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
Game 6 of the 1991 World Series. Lonnie Smith would have scored. 4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
Probably the Los Angeles Angels. I do like them...and have since Bobby Grich times..but they will never be the Braves 5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?
Lawerence Phillips....just a bad bad bad person May have more later. Answer all, answer some, ignore it completely, it's up to you. Served its purpose by passing time and giving me something to focus on.

Wasn't really sure where to put this. The lounge? A general board? Up my....... 1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?
I was raised in SA, Texas. {Fun city, crappy state}. Spurs Fan (NBA). I went to school in Pittsburgh. Picked up Steelers and Pens among pro teams. Support USA soccer, and Greek soccer (wife is originally from there). Support Man Utd because I lol'd at their fan depiction in Eurotrip. Support Olympiakos because married into family that is their club. What else? hmmmmmmm 2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
Would depend on circumstance(s) 3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
1936 Olympic Javelin throw. (lol j/k) 4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
probably nobody. I didn't care about NFL or NHL until I lived in a city with teams. 5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?

1. What's your sports pedigree? Meaning why do you support the teams you do?
Born and raised in Oakland with a family full of Raider fans. Happened in the womb.
2. Your team(s) relocate. Do you follow them? Find another team? Support no one but stick with the sport? Give the sport up completely?
Been there before, jumped ship the first time because it hurt so bad when they left. But if they were to leave again, it's been too long now... would follow where ever they went.
3. You have been afforded a sports quantum leap. You are sent back in time with the ability to try and change the outcome of any ONE sporting event in history. Who do you leap into? Which sporting event?
Easy. Tuck Rule game. That was a Super Bowl caliber team. That excruciating loss threw the Raiders into the downturn of the last decade plus.
4. Your team never existed, who do you think you would have chosen as your team?
Steelers. Jack Lambert has always been one of my favorite players.
5. You get to dissociate one player/owner/manager/GM from your team. Not their accompishments, just they never get mentioned or remembered as a former "xxxx". Who is it? Why?
Warren Sapp. He constantly craps on the only team willing to give him another chance when he was tossed aside. But when the Raiders win a game... all of a sudden they are "his Raiders". Hate that flip-flopping, SB ring hiding, dumbass dude.

And, though I have been here awhile, today was the first time I noticed the gender symbol above the avatars here.
