Well, Clemson is getting revenge for when WVU racked up 70 on 'em in the Orange Bowl a few years back. Pay back really is hell.

WVU did have their QB "retire" right before the bowl game. That caused me to switch my pick. However I still have a lot of faith in TCU.

They still have to recover from the recruiting woes they had back when they were in the sinking ship that was the Big East. TCU is rather surprising, considering they are in the heart of a hotbed of talent. Texas has been letting everybody outrecruit them in their own state. There is no excuse for that.

OU is not that bad of a team. The coaching staff either did zero or very little prep for this game, obviously. Maybe they were on a down for some reason or another, I don't know. But Clemson should not have stomped them this badly, no way.

I don't think Texas has much choice in "letting" people out-recruit them. There's a deeper issue that goes back to Mack Brown hanging on a bit too long and the hubris of the Longhorn Network. The LN was the sticking point in much of the conference realignment and the nasty split with A&M. I think Texas also will take time to repair things with the Charlie Strong hire. It isn't a bad hire, but Strong isn't a Good 'Ol Boy. The recruiting goes back to the pipelines in High Schools. UT relied heavily on Texas High Schools funneling their best to the flagship University. But I think Mack Brown lost a lot of that cache and boosters/coaches started spreading that talent around the state to TCU, Baylor, & A&M. The Aggies made the smart jump to the SEC where they can be just as high-profile as UT and take in just as much (or close to it) revenue. UT needs to rebuild that pipeline and that's going to take a while.

They always struggle when the opponent can match up athletically in the secondary and Clemson is poorly coached but extremely athletic. OU's bowl history under Stoops is not good when the other team has an athletic defense.

Like this? Total defense is usually ypg and Clemson led the nation. www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22
