The clear candidates are Arians, Tomlin, Caldwell, Garrett and Carroll. Probably should involve Little Bill too but the great ones never get included (otherwise Landry would have won a whole shitload of them).
Obviously, my choice is Garrett. Going into the season... it was widely acknowledged he was coaching for his job... his defense was the worst in the league last year and was projected to be even worse this year... his QB was coming off TWO back surgeries entering the first year of a 6 year contract guaranteed to hamstring the franchise from a salary cap standpoint... and even the most optimistic observer had the team going .500 at the very best with most (including this long-time fan and observer) projecting 6-10 and worse.
Surprise. They were better. Way, way better. Anyone who says they saw them having a chance to go 12-4 had better produce written proof because I'm calling bullshit until they do. Credit the coordinators (who both deserve a ton of credit and big bags of money for what they did this season) for terrific preparation and utilization of the talent. But - it starts at the top with Garrett setting the correct tone and mental focus. The players buy in... the organization buys in... hell - even Jerry buys in (otherwise we would have Johnny F. Football here instead of Zach Martin).
Arians probably wins the thing... and you can make compelling arguments for him (all those injuries and here they are) as well as Tomlin (I'm not sure I want to meet them in the playoffs) and Carroll (I'd say he has the ship righted). I just don't think anyone deserves it more than Garrett.
My $0.02

I wouldn't cry foul if Garrett got the nod this year. The Cowboys weren't expected to do anything and did. Some could argue that their schedule wasn't monumentally difficult but they still beat Seattle on their home turf so that says something. Garrett has also had the tremendous boat anchor that is JJ. If Philly hadn't inserted their collective heads waaaaay up their asses the last 3 games, the playoff picture would have been different but that would be just whining on my part.
This will be the year where Romo has a chance to redeem himself and prove that he can actually win ONE playoff game in his career. That takes nothing away from what Garrett and the other coaches were able to achieve during the regular season.

I think it's Arians. 11 wins in probably the toughest division and so with many injuries. Who can name more than 3 guys on that team that are still playing, not injured? Not me lol

O'Brien should be in the argument but Arians has done it with injuries at their QB missing many parts in a D that still was great and are in the toughest division in football

The man has won SB's, maybe 18 yrs. ago but he has won while owning the team. Cant say much for the Philly ownership esp. how you hung onto the mustacheod walrus way way past his expiration date. Your town loves McFlabb and talks shit about TO, but who came back from a broken ankle...a broken ankle...and says "Give me the fucking ball!" only to have your awesome QB throwing up in the huddle....but we cant focus on McFlabb because you know he was the greatest QB in Iggles history. Then lets continue with ole Chipper and the hurry up offense. This aint the NCAA, man. And your owner is riding on this pineapple....the whole city is. I am in the minority camp that thinks Chipper is a farce and the org. should have hired someone else. Now the failure is all on the QB because Foles, Vick, Sanchez and who was the other guy that went to Arizona....I mean come on. How do you attack JJ and leave Snyder out of this? Seriously? I mean shouldnt the conversation end at RGIII, Snyder has been the worst owner in modern history. How many more coaches can the organization go through. You hate JJ why? Americas Team. He wants to win? He meddles too much? So what. If it bothers you so much, gather up your sheckles and buy something so you can beat him.

And if it weren't for that Gawd Awful last two minutes of the first half against Pittsburgh, the Texans would be in the playoffs too. Definitely deserving of recognition.

FYI, I have praised the Dallas Cowboys on many occasions before, for the team they used to be. They were exciting to watch back in the day. As for the Eagles, well, not so much, <hangs head>. When JJ bought the Cowboys he fired Tom Landry and hired Jimmy Johnson. It turned out to be a good move as Jimmy won 2 SB's and proved himself and excellent coach and selector of talent. I suppose this didn't sit well with JJ as he envisioned himself to be the great leader and fired Jimmy. With the exception of one additonal SB (inertia from Jimmy>, JJ's hands on approach has been well.......a total walking clusterfuck. He is a great generator of $$$$ though. As for Snyder? That's a completely different topic for another thread. I do however agree with you. America's team hasn't been America's team for 20 years. Ancient history. Good luck to the Cowboys. Hopefully Romo can dig deep and finally win a playoff game. The fans sure deserve it.
