While the Padres and Dodgers get better, the Giants have resigned Romo and Peavy.....and traded for McGehee. Not exactly instilling much confidence.
Still a lot of offseason left, but not too impressed so far. Padres have had a great, but risky, offseason.

I didn't think he did that much in Miami and was confused why he won Comeback Player of the Year award. he's never been much more than mediocre in his career, what did he come back from? and in other news, the Yankees made a 5-player trade with the Marlins, trading Martin Prado and David Phelps in exchange for Nathan Eovaldi, Garrett Jones and Domingo German - a prospect.

Haha, nope, I joined back in March of this year. yeah, McGehee doesn't exactly scream excitement. Not sure that their internal option Duffy couldnt have done better. I know I shouldn't complain, just been a slow winter.

No, I don't post too much. True, that is a very valid point. They didn't break the bank. Even tho I like Upton's skills, I think the Padres paid a TON to get a one year player.

I'm just surprised there hasn't been too many moves for Milwaukee so far. I do like the Lind acquisition tho, helps at 1B on offense which is really needed. Overbay and Reynolds didn't come close to getting the job done

If Matt Kemp's attitude is good and his 2nd half resurgence was the real deal, I think it's a great deal for the pAAAdres. He's a legit middle of the order bat when he's right. They just need to use him in a corner OF role and he needs to be good with it.

The Brewers lineup would be scary as all hell.

The Brewers lineup would be scary as all hell. it would be nice but really, as long as someone can hit over .250 at 1B and not strike out continuously, it's a upgrade. the Brewers main concern is not crashing at the end of the season and for their hitting to stay consistent, not fall apart around the All-Star Break then never go back to 1st half-like

Pitchers and catchers report on Tuesday!!! The West will be a tough division. 3 LEGIT teams vying for the title. And we still get to flash the bling all year, AGAIN

Yeah, it'll be an interesting year. Weird to think of the Giants without Pablo. absolutely. It never gets old. I want to see see a healthy, effective Cain this year. Even if it's just a 3.5 - 3.7 era.

Bum - Will his arm fall off? He SEEMS to be an old-fashioned kind of pitcher, but they all do, until they don't. Cain had that air about him, until he didn't. I expect him to remain a legit Ace.
Cain - BIG question mark. If he can perform like a top-tier #3, I will be happy. It is hard to assign any expectations to him, though.
Huddy - I feel they are going to start him on the DL, regardless. He was an Ace-level pitcher pre-break, but was hardly a #4/#5 post break. Let him heal 100% from the surgery and only ask for 15-20 starts from him, and he will likely be effective in the post-season. I expect 120 IP of #2 level stuff.
Peavy - I think he feels re-energized. But his arm was ridden hard and put away wet. He is like an aging hooker... You can tell he knows how to use his stuff, and he can still get the job done if looks aren't important, but you don't want him up front where everyone can see him. I expect a solid #3 pitcher from him.
Timmeh - Ey Yey Yey. I would not be 100% shocked to see him released before opening day. The signing of Vogey was quite odd. We simply don't need him if Timmeh is expected to hold down a rotation spot. I expect him to open the season as the #5, but to have a VERY short leash. He is DFA material when Huddy gets back.
Vogey - He is the little engine who could. He gave use 1.5 seasons of Ace-level stuff, and has been a solid #3/#4 since. Last season, his re-emergence was amazing to watch. I think he opens as the #4, and should hold that the whole year unless Beede, Blackburn or Crick graduate.
Petit - Dude DESERVES a rotation slot, but he is also in the midst of completely re-writing the managers instruction manual on how to use the bully. The mythical "Super-Reliever" has been discussed for years, and we thought Timmeh would be the guy to really establish the role. But Petit has been the one to do it instead. I expect him to open as the long man, but he could get 5-10 starts this year.

Can't say I disagree with any of that. Especially like your breakdown of Peavy, lol. nervous about the Pads, especially after the Shields signing. Their outfield defense is atrocious though.

I look forward to watching that OF D. It may be almost as entertaining to watch as KCs OF D was last year, but for the completely opposite reason.
