Holtby won the Vezina trophy, but during the playoff series Kessel beat him like a rented mule. True, but in fairness to Holtby, he was screened by his own dman on the play. First of all I don't care about fairness, I'm a Pens fan.  Second, the HBK line carried the Pens in the Washington series. The Caps pretty much shut down the first two lines, but they didn't have an answer for the HBK line. Kessel had 2 goals (both game 6) and 4 assists that series. |

I agree, but I would put that goal on Karl Alzner more than I would on Braden Holtby. If you think about it, Pens likely would've finished the Capitals in 5 games but for 2 things... 1) Braden Holtby 2) The refs wanting to extend the series |

Until we put together the HBK line, I was actually sort of glum about giving them Kasperi Kapanen. I also thought that was a bad trade at the time. Good thing Kessel, JR and the Pens proved us all wrong!!! |

How depressing was it in early January when the Pens were out of playoff position and we got to see Kasperi Kapanen win gold for Finland in the World Jr's? Glad things changed in a big way after that! |
