Julien: B's 'optimistic' Chara will return vs. Blackhawks
December 9, 2014, 12:15 pm
BOSTON – The Bruins returned to work after a couple of off days, and as expected injured players David Krejci and Zdeno Chara returned to full practice participation with the team on Tuesday afternoon at TD Garden. Chara has missed the last 19 games with the torn PCL in his left knee. Krejci has played two games since the beginning of November with a groin/hip ailment that’s been nagging at him throughout the season.
Julien said after practice he’s “optimistic” that Chara will make his return Thursday night vs. the Blackhawks, and that Krejci hasn’t yet been cleared to play games, despite being fully cleared for practice.
“That’s our captain we’re talking about here,” said Julien. “When you see him getting excited about playing Thursday, you know he’s feeling pretty good. He’s a guy that hates to sit up there and watch games.”
David Warsofsky also rejoined the group after rehabbing from a groin injury, and none of the players appeared to have any restrictions at the hour-long practice.
Simon Gagne, Daniel Paille and Carl Soderberg were all missing from practice for the Black and Gold, and that meant a bit of a skeleton crew for the forwards. Here are the line combos and D-pairings based on the practice on Garden ice.
Lucic-Krejci-Eriksson
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Fraser/Kelly-Campbell-Griffith
Chara-Hamilton
Seidenberg-Krug
Bartkowski-Miller
Warsofsky-Trotman
Rask
Svedberg
