The beginning...Good read about how he got "Discovered", but long, so I'll just post part of it and the link He rarely has any moments of peace any more on Aruba -- an island that seemingly exists for the sole purpose of relaxation. All the attention makes Xander Bogaerts uncomfortable. It's not in his nature to be coddled, idolized or worshipped. But as a World Series champion with the Boston Red Sox, a rare major leaguer from Aruba, and one of the top prospects in baseball, Bogaerts knows it's his responsibility to shake hands, sign autographs and mingle among his countrymen, who not long ago didn't know who he was. At age 21, Bogaerts is a phenomenon, and with that comes some inconveniences. A normal trip to the grocery store becomes chaotic once a fan spots him. Soon he is surrounded, asked to sign autographs and pose for photos. At dinner, he's not able to eat because so many approach him with requests. Tourists from Boston even visited his house this offseason. In a short time, Bogaerts has become the most famous and in-demand person on the small island, and because he's a gregarious and friendly person, he usually tries to accommodate everyone. "It was fun at the beginning, but after a time, it wears you down," Bogaerts said. "It's overwhelming, and especially me not being that type of guy who wants the attention -- it doesn't work sometimes. It's tough. I don't know if I'll get used to it, but I just have to deal with it." --------------------------- www.sportsonearth.com/article/70655530/international-scouts-craig-shipley-and-mike-lord-discovered-red-sox-xander-bogaerts-in-aruba?partnerId=ed-8030034-658620023

Looking primed to live up to the big expectations that surround him, rookie Xander Bogaerts continued his hot start by belting three hits, scoring twice and making a clutch play in the hole to start a force in the bottom of the eighth. It was the first three-hit game in the career of Bogaerts, and there are likely to be many more to come for the 21-year-old. Through the first three games, Bogaerts is hitting .556. "Yeah, he's played the game comfortably, to say the least," said Farrell. "He's on base multiple times each game. He's played very good defensively. He goes to the backhand on the force play late in the game. He's doing an outstanding job for us." Bogaerts also helped Boston quite a bit down the stretch last season after he was called up from the Minors. But now he's the starting shortstop, and he looks ready for all the responsibility that entails. "I mean, towards the end of Spring Training, I was swinging the bat really well," said Bogaerts. "I'm really happy the way things have gone so far. boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?c_id=bos&gid=2014_04_03_bosmlb_balmlb_1&mode=recap&partnerId=as_mlb_20140404_21292984

'X' marks the spot: Bogaerts locked in latelyBOSTON - It's a homestand that nobody on the Red Sox wants to remember -- except maybe Xander Bogaerts. While the rest of the team failed to show up, Bogaerts continued to break out for the Sox. His solo shot over the Green Monster and completely out of the park in the second inning on Thursday was the second home run in his last five games, and it also extended his on-base streak to 10 games. In that time, he's hitting .378 (14-for-37) with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers, 4 RBI and 2 walks. "Yeah, just seeing the ball good," Bogaerts said. "Made some adjustments. I'm hitting the ball good right now but we're not winning, so it's frustrating." It's been a rollercoaster week for Bogaerts, who found out a few days ago that he was going to lose his shortstop job to Stephen Drew, whom the Sox finally signed after Will Middlebrooks was put on the DL. Bogaerts will move over to third base, where he'll play primarily. He could still play shortstop against some lefties. While Bogaerts showed disappointment about the news on Tuesday night, he seemed a little more at ease when asked about Drew Thursday night. "Definitely he's a great player, we won the World Series with him last year," Bogaerts said. "So he's definitely going to boost our team." Lost in the fray of a tough homestand was the fact that Bogaerts hit his first career home run over the Green Monster last Saturday against the Tigers. "It felt great," he said. "It took a while but I got it." And it was only a handful of days later that he got his second. That's a sight Sox fans should get used to seeing for a very long time. www.csnne.com/blog/red-sox-talk/x-marks-spot-bogaerts-locked-lately

"Hang on kids, Bogie's up" Words I've uttered a 100 times this year already... Fuck Stephen Drew...I hope he contracts syphilis in the next week...have absolutely no desire to see him move Bogie to 3rd and Holt to the bench...Holt's a guy that deserves more playing time...not less...the only guy on that team with any real measure of success at leadoff thus far...
