Just saying Miggy Cabrera has 11 years left Just saying Tanaka is on the fast-track for this list. He would join Arod, Teixiera, and Sabathia in the top 10 for worst contracts in MLB. Miggy and Cano's deals will look awful by the end, too.

Wow. The Braves have spent $30 mill on a guy with a 64 OPS+. Upton makes Jeter look like he's leaving on a high note.

BJ Upton's contract is worse than Arods. At least the Yankees got some productive years out of Arod.

You disagree? was just looking ... from 2007 (contract started) - 2012 .... 139 OPS+ .... not horrendous, thats 5 years in a 10 contract that were at least good

BJ Upton's contract is worse than Arods. At least the Yankees got some productive years out of Arod. True, but you have to look at the total dollars wasted. Upton was a bargain compared to ARod. That's why Josh Hamilton isn't in the convo. Shorter deal.

The Braves couldn't trade BJ even if they paid his entire salary. The fact this guy's name doesn't immediately come to mind in "worst contracts" is baffling. It's like having 5 years at 75 mill for this years version of Stephen Drew.

Unless BJ miraculously turns it around, I think the Braves will look back and say - "in every year of his contract, we should have started some MLB minimum prospect instead of him."

I guess you think the contracts of Arod, CC and Teixeira are "good"? Otherwise we could agree some more. No, but each one of them had multiple seasons of awesomeness, every one of them I think their are some awful contracts where a team gets nothing at all on their return, like Cereal pointed out with BJ Upton

You can say the Braves wasted $75m on Upton. How much was wasted on the other nominees?

Totally Steroid induced of course But how many MVP type seasons did Arod have as a Yankee?
