Just so I get this straight. This is how the greatest generation of our country disciplined their children........but......it's wrong now. Is that what I'm reading? drawing blood? that's too far man. my old man prided himself on "not leaving any marks" lol

So far, Yam and I have stated that we got our asses kicked by our parents growing up. And deserved it. Anybody else want to weigh in? no no, yam has said those marks are excessive. again if the face comments are true.......i am on yams side.....but if all he did was hit the kids thighs, come the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck on. dude, just making his legs bleed, is way too far. s

You cant hit your kids with tree branches anymore.
You cant force feed them castor oil like in old cartoons.
Spanking, the very basis of physical child discipline, is on the way out (tho i am a firm believer in it),
It isnt 1948 anymore. You cant abuse a kid and you cant send them to work in the mines anymore. Just because something was done to you as a child doesnt mean you have to pass that on.

Just because he did do that and supposedly did it in the name of discipline doesnt make him an abusive parent or monster. Who are we to tell someone how to raise their kid. I do mean that. People know what a real abusive situation is and just this alone is not really enough to condemn someone of that. Just my two cents. And no i dont agree with what he did.

My Dad punched me in the gut once, and literally washed my mouth out with soap another time. My step dad used to whip me with my hot wheels tracks, didn't hurt at all lol sounded bad and I acted like it was killing me but AP went waaay over the line on a 4 y/o kid.

I mean you simply cant, as in arent allowed legally, to do the things i listed. I thought the 'send them to work in the mines' part made that clear. Either way, i agree...you cant tell someone how to raise a child, but you have to be aware of laws and what people like doctors are obligated to report. Its a different world than when i was whacked with a belt.

And if you did that today, youd be on the news. Discipline your child however you feel fit...thats part of the problem, we dont discipline kids enough now. We're raising entitled pussies. But theres a line between disciplne like spanking and whacking a toddler with a tree branch.

Yeah that changes everything yeah at first I thought the kid was 11 which still would have been pretty bad but 4? no reason to beat him that bad. the Kid prolly has no idea what he even did wrong

Having a full time Dad helps too. AP(like a lot of these athletes)has like 5-6 kids from 5-6 diff women,,,he's a father but not a "dad" it seems and I always liked the guy

Yeah...that's way out of line in 2014. I used to get a whooping like all the other kids of the 70's. But I know I deserved it and it helped me. I also know my parents never left bruises on me, either. How long ago was it that teachers could whack the kids with rulers?? 50-60 years?? Can you even fathom that now?

What could a kid 4 years old possibly do to deserve that kind of beating? Seriously. Come the fuck on man. no idea and its sickening people are defending it as "let him discipline/raise his kid as he sees fit" then JD said something about me, govt, and a mark...lets see if he maintains his stance now that youve chimed in Yes. You think govt should be able to step in and tell people how to raise their kids, when people like Peterson are the exception, not the rule. Govt fits everybody into a one size fits all mold, and you're fine with that. No kids having government mark.

Rock was talking about the legality of spanking your kids, how you can't do it because it's "illegal" and that's the problem. Peterson is an exception, not the rule. But when govt gets involved in these matters, spanking your kid is the same thing as what Peterson did in the govt's eyes. It's absurd.

People who "like" AP are going to defend him. People with common sense, like me, think it's disgusting what he did. I'll ask again, what could a 4 year old boy possibly do to deserve a beating like that? he probably doesnt know what he even did wrong

You think making it illegal is going to make it stop?
That's working well with murderers.
"dont kill someone or you'll go to jail"

"dont kill someone or you'll go to jail" no and i didnt hint or say that im saying, if this happened 30 years ago its probably not news, becasue that dr doesnt legally have to report it...no medical license at stake. that is my only point you cant discipline a kid today the same way you did 30 years ago (i.e AP saying thats how he was raised) without people reporting it think AP went to a dr with bruises as a kid? maybe. was it reported?
