I'm going to try to do this every week, an updated list of fantasy players that are probably available in your league (under 50% owned) to keep an eye on if you need some help.
I guess my first Watch List will be the Houston Astros edition as a trio of them top my list. Part 2, "Pitchers to Watch" coming soon.
I got my eye on these guys (and already moved on more than 1 myself)
Chris Carter Hou - 1B/OF (44% owned)
over the last 30 days CC carries a nice .325 avg, along with 9 HR and 21 RBI. Add in 20 runs and even 2 steals for good measure...
He is the [HASH]2 fantasy player over the last 30 days and is only owned in 44% of leagues? 1B and OF eligibility? Pick him up while you can
Jon Singleton Hou-1B (13%owned)
His overall numbers are...well, pretty bad. But a recent change in stance/approach has him (a fairly highly rated prospect) hitting much better as of late
and that's all that matters if you just need a "hot bat" in your line up. Over the last 30 days, Singleton is ranked [HASH]78 in fantasy
despite his ugly .200 BA Over the last week, since the "change", he has a .300 AVG (6/20) with 4 dingers and 7 RBI. I just (finally) dropped
Ryan Howard and picked Singleton up.
and yet another Astro worth looking at if you need help at Catcher
Juan Castro Hou C (38% owned)
Like his team mate Singleton, Castro's YTD AVG is bad (.234) but over the last 30 days it's a very acceptable .286
to go along with 4 HRs and 10 RBI. Not bad production from your catcher. Top 8 catcher in this time period...And he's been even better last 7 and 14...Top 5 or 6 at his position
Extras:
A couple of "platoon" guys seemingly on the verge of becoming regulars that are swinging hot bats are Tommy Medica 1B/OF Padres and Travis Snyder Of Pirates. Keep an eye on their PT if you need OF help
A couple of guys I like that are due to come off the DL very soon and might be available in your league: Michael Cuddyer and Brett Lawrie. Even Angel Pagan was having a very good year before he got injured, he'll be back soon too.
A couple of "blasts from the past" having hot stretches worth keeping an eye on: Josh Reddick and personal fave of mine, Grady Sizemore
Need some infield help? Keep an eye on Kolten Wong (2B Cards) and Luis Valbuena (2B/3B Cubs).
It's probably too late to snag Josh Harrison who I pimped a couple weeks ago but if he happens to be available stop reading this and go get him!
Feedback, additions of your own,(respectful) disagreements, questions etc welcomed
