Patriots Blog: Training Camp Has Arrived
By Levan Reid, WBZ-TV July 23, 2014 8:26 AM BOSTON (CBS) — The day has arrived. The New England Patriots open their 2014 training camp on Wednesday, as veterans report to Gillette Stadium. I guess we can call today camp orientation, as Bill Belichick will kick things off by addressing the media at 8:30 a.m. (you can hear that live on 98.5 The Sports Hub or streaming live on CBSBostonsports.com). He’ll be followed by three players, Logan Mankins, Devin McCourty and Rob Ninkovich — all captains from last season’s squad. Coach will be pumped; he’s always ready for the start of camp. Every year is a new year, but the goal always remains the same. It’s Superbowl or bust. However, the concerns are many. How will Gronk look? In fact, when will Gronk be available??? How will Vince Wilfork look? Will the young wide receivers flourish in a second year in the system? There’s a new offensive line coach, so how will that change the protection in front of Tom Brady? Read: Patriots Positional Previews Legarrette Blount is gone, so will Stevan Ridley finally break the fumbling curse and be what the Pats and the fans think he can be?? How much will Darrelle Revis improve the Pats defense?? There are a lot of questions as we enter camp, and there will probably be more before the season starts. Top Stories To Watch: On Offense | On Defense It’s good to get this all out in the open though, and maybe answers will come sooner than later. Welcome to Pats camp everybody! boston.cbslocal.com/2014/07/23/patriots-blog-training-camp-has-arrived/

Greetings from Foxboro: Brady’s receiving optionsJuly 24, 2014, 4:30 pm Do you smell that? It's pigskin. And it's being thrown around the Gillette Stadium practice fields. Specifically, it's being thrown by Tom Brady, Ryan Mallett, and Jimmy Garoppolo. And being caught by Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Kenbrell Thompkins among many others. And it is those receivers that we're focusing on on Day 1, because some (Thompkins) looked exceptional, while others (Amendola) are still needing a little Brady guidance. Tom E. Curran and Mike Giardi check in. Giardi starts with Brady's first press conference of camp. "First of all," Giardi said, "two questions about Gronk. Never said Gronk by name. Talked in generalities about just having everybody out there, guys that are at different stages, it struck me as a little bit odd. And then when you think about last year when he was the one who said basically, 'Yeah, he's our best player in practice, kind of wondering why he's not playing.' Meanwhile [Brady] went out of his way to talk about Kenbrell Thompkins and Julien Edelman, praising these guys for guys who had to work hard to get where they are, and that he enjoys working with them, loves the effort that they put in. Likes to play with those players." Hmm . . . perhaps Tom's relationship with Gisele isn't the only rocky one. Kidding. Gronk love Tom. Gronk love football. But Curran wanted to elaborate more on Thompkins. "Kenbrell Thompkins had an outstanding practice, and he had so many good training camp practices last year when he really emerged as an undrafted guy," Curran said. "He makes catches, he makes acrobatic catches, he has exceptional quickness and outside ability. I think you're eating paint chips if you think that Kenbrell Thompkins is even close to the bubble. I think he is a staple receiver for this team." No paint chips over here. The guys go on to discuss what Brady worked on with his receivers, and what it means that he had to talk to Amendola three separate times . . . www.csnne.com/blog/patriots-talk/greetings-foxboro-brady%E2%80%99s-receiving-options

Bill Belichick: I’ve been ‘impressed’ with Darrelle Revis 07.24.14 at 11:36 am ET By Christopher Price
FOXBORO — It’s early on, but Bill Belichick likes what he’s seen from Darrelle Revis.
Speaking before the start of the first training camp practice on Thursday morning, Belichick said he’s been “impressed” with the former Jets and Bucs corner who was acquired as a free agent this past offseason.
“He’s worked hard; smart guy,” Belichick said of Revis. “Very professional. Has a good understanding of the game, he’s a smart player and he’s had a real good focus and instinct. He’s a smart player scheme-wise, but he knows how to play. He’s a very instinctive player.
“He played well at Tampa, he played well at the Jets, and then we saw him in the Pro Bowl. Now we’ve seen him ourselves for 13 practices and the time in the spring. But again, it’s a new year. He’s in a new system, so we’ll see how it all plays out. But I’m glad we have him on our team. I look forward to working with him more.”

Howe: Brady & Edelman shine in Pats-Redskins practiceJust one day after his 37th birthday, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady isn't slowing down as camp rolls on. Jeff Howe joined the Arbella Early Edition to discuss how Brady has looked thus far in camp. "Brady has continued to be just completely dominant," said Howe. "He's been really good the last week and a half of camp, he goes against an opposing defense for the first time this summer and he continued that roll." With Brady's continued success, Howe also takes a look at one of his favorite targets. "Julian Edelman has continued to be terrific. He caught eight of those passes today and they have continued their hot streak that started last season." ---------------- good video with this, click the link below www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/howe-brady-edelman-shine-pats-redskins-practice

Patriots' pace leaves Redskins gaspingAugust 4, 2014, 6:45 pm RICHMOND, Virginia – These conjugal practices with the Patriots are designed to be a learning experience for the Redskins. And the players might not like the result of what head coach Jay Gruden saw on Monday. New England’s up-tempo offense had Washington struggling to keep up in the latter stages of the morning practice. “That’s a learning experience,” Gruden said of facing the New England offense. “You see how we are in shape and I noticed that on the fourth and fifth play of a couple of those drives, some of our guys were coming off real high and they weren’t coming off the ball. “It’s something we have to address, as far as making sure our guys are in shape,” Gruden continued. “And if we have to get in extra running in after practice, we’ll have to do that. I think that was probably the most disappointing thing, some of the guys, defensive line-wise, getting off and continuing to rush, and you know they get tired. Overall the communication I thought was good. I think our secondary was where they needed to be at all times. We didn’t give up any big plays, but I think just from a stamina standpoint, we have to get better and better, and we have five or six weeks to do that before Houston.” On one 11-on-11 drive in particular, Brady worked the ball around from Brandon Lafell to Julian Edelman, to Danny Amendola then to tight end D.J. Williams playing simple pitch-and-catch. One play would end, the Patriots would be back to the line, the ball would be spotted and the next play would begin. “That’s why they pay him the big bucks—that’s what’s going through my mind,” Redskins linebacker Keenan Robinson offered. “He’s Tom Brady for a reason. He’s won multiple Super Bowls for a reason. He does a great job with what he does. The coaches trust him, obviously, to make the calls and the plays. He gets a call, he doesn’t like it, he’ll switch to a different look, motion a guy, flex a guy out, make something happen based on whatever he wants to do. So that’s going to help us, our defense seeing that, going against that in practice.” “He’s legit, obviously,” said defensive end Ryan Kerrigan. “Quite the understatement there. But their whole offense is in such unison. They don’t even really have to take long in the huddle. They just get out there and run the plays. It’s good to go against that sort of pace.” Washington has to deal with divisional foe Philadelphia twice during this regular season and head coach Chip Kelly likes the same turbo pace. Washington got a peek of where they are right now and, to hear Gruden tell it, it’s not where they need to be. www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/patriots-pace-leaves-redskins-gasping

jeter H, we cant enjoy a fucking preseason football glimpse of our teams future at QB without dirt dropping his pants and squatting on it I dont think he is ... unless Tawmy gets hurt. I get no feel that guy has any plans on retiring any time soon.... and honestly the way the NFL is going these days and the offense he plays in - dont see any reason he'll need to retire in the next 3 - 4 years.
