Greatest Yankees SS of all time. The Bronx Bombers have now donated the greatest closer and greatest SS of all time to the Hall of Fame. Seems like everyone just want to hate on them though.

He was loved waaaay too much on the All Star Game. Dude's been loved a lot.. Maybe. But he's a nice guy and not an overrated phony like so many others on the Yankees' roster over the years. I think you're about to see an outpouring of support over baseball's second half of the season now, where fans from each stadium the Yankees visit pay tribute to him as he plays there for the last time.

There is plenty of love for Jeter, in fact there probably has been too much love for the guy.

Definitely Honus Wagner. Although on the defensive side I never saw a better one than Ozzie Smith...

he is a very mediocre player who compiled stats through longevity......a butcher in the field with poor range....a very average singles hitter...and he strikes out at quite an alarming rate...so what you end up with is a guy who strikes out like a 500 home run guy that inside outs balls to right.....who cant field worth a fuck but insists on playing short anyway....oh and he grounds into a lot of double plays....like almost as many as jim rice.....fuck jetey....not to mention the unnecessary jump throws..

Got a point there. Phil is a hall of famer. Meaningless comparison. Jeter will be a HOFer in short order too. Probably a first-ballot guy, based on the number writers in the NYC area.

You think Jeter is going to get sweet endorsement deals like the Money Store? Jeter doesn't even have a catch phrase like "Holy cow!". Phil > Jeter.

Greatest Yankees SS of all time. The Bronx Bombers have now donated the greatest closer and greatest SS of all time to the Hall of Fame. Seems like everyone just want to hate on them though. 39 years old. never been married. never co-habituated with a woman. never fathered a child. No woman anywhere claims to have had sex with him. Jeter's 'heterosexuality' is the biggest publicity agent con-job since Rock Hudson's early career was carefully molded to be that of a ladies man'.

Greatest Yankee ss or greatest SS period? I think many would take issue with the latter. What Yankee was a better SS ? Alex Rodriguez.
Two simple facts about The Jetes that prove the media ridiculously overrated his value:
1. Ever n any season was he the best player on his own team. 2. Never in any season was he the best player at his position.
A dominant player and ladies man? False. A stat compiler and closet homosexual? True.
