REPUBLICAN WHO SAID ‘HITLER WAS RIGHT’ HAS WON STATE PRIMARY IN AMERICA
A Neo-Nazi supporting Republican candidate has won his House state primary in Missouri.
Steve West won with a nearly 25 point lead over the other Republican candidates. West stood on a platform of ‘old-American virtues’ such as ‘humility, modesty and work ethic.’
However, West uses YouTube and his personal website where he incites racial hatred, homophobia and Islamophobia and has made some extremely egregious anti-Semitic comments including saying that “Hitler was right”.
Using a persona, West spoke to a US local radio station in 2017, he said, “Looking back in history, unfortunately, Hitler was right about what was taking place in Germany.”
There have been a number of far-right candidates running for the Republicans in the mid-terms, including card carrying Nazis, white supremacists and Holocaust deniers.
West mark the second electoral success and the margin to which he has done it spells worrying times for the GOP as their party shifts further and further to the right.
Arthur Jones won the candidacy for the Republicans in Illinois last month. Jones has previously boasted that he was a member of the American Nazi Party and on his website describes the Holocaust as “he biggest, blackest lie in history.”
It is another sorry sign for America, where racism and Neo-Nazism is on the rise, and if electoral victories become more normalised it could give greater legitimisation to fascists throughout the nation and further amongst the West.
