Out of LF drunken guess, Reggie Sanders. No homework done at all. Hey BigD! He was on my early short list, knowing that he played for a bunch of different teams for 1 year there for a stretch. However, no on Sanders. In fact, after a lot of research now, I am wondering if this is a real and valid question? I was able to find another near miss like Delgado, as I see Rocky Colovito had a 3 year stretch of over 300 r.b.i, but he fell a few short in on of those years. Beltre? Seattle, Boston and Texas?

Nope. Only 44 for him in his last year in Seattle. A very good guess though, as he is not one of the 50 or so I have checked on.

As much as I hate not knowing the right answer right off, I hate worse that I missed it after giving up and looking for it. So, I deserved all the time I spent and wasted on this. But, at least now I know. And, from your hint, so will manu others fairly soon.

Kudos to the Cincinnati Reds fans. Mike Minor had a no-hitter going until the 8th inning. With 2 outs, a Red finally got a hit and scored a run. When Minor was relieved after that, he received a standing ovation from the Reds fans. I'm impressed. Then, when Justin Upton hit a 2 run homer to go ahead in the 12th inning, the Reds fans gave him an ovation, too. Cincinnati must be a cool place to hang out. I never seemed to get along with Clevelanders probably due to it's proximity to the Motor City. I took my wife on honeymoon there because we already took a pre-honeymoon that was quite expensive that summer. We were married 11-11-11. So we got tickets for the Browns-St. Louis Rams in November, checked out the Rock and Roll HOF and generally had a decent time. Except going to the Browns game. Hell, the Browns are not even in the Lions' conference, yet we got so much abuse in the parking lot it was unbearable. We had Matthew Stafford jerseys on. The Lions were not even on our schedule that year. I advised Liane to bring an extra shirt in case it got nasty. It did. Phil Dawson missed a PAT for the Browns and they lost 13-12. We quickly changed into our neutral sweatshirts and departed. That crowd was largely drunk and venemous! But Cincinnati doesn't have that going with the "D", so I never have problems there. This will date me some, but I was in awe of that 1970's "Big Red Machine" with Big Doggie Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, Pete Rose et al.

I could cheat and look it up, but if just raw memory serves me correct, I'll bet Wilbur Wood went 24-20 the year he followed up a 20 plus victory year. I am surprised that I cannot answer the question because the 1970's were when I first really got deep into baseball as a whole...not just the Tigers. I was 13 when the decade began...

The 4th 20/20 guy was Stan Bahnsen,,,whoever that is lol Started for four years with Yankees. Then traded to White Sox. Went 21-16 and 3.60 in 1972 for them. In 1973 actually posted a slightly better ERA @ 3.57, but went 18-21. A real workhorse, when SP's were real MEN. He was hurt a lot by lack of run support as Dick Allen was injured a lot of 1973. In 1972, he went 37HR 113RBI and .308 when most guys were struggling to hit 30HR. In injury riddled 1973, he went 16HR 41RBI and .316 in a mere 72 games. Chicago offense tanked.

A refreshing attitude, to say the least.
There's a lot of wasted money on the Philadelphia Phillies roster this season. We're talking about a team with the third-biggest payroll ($180 million) in MLB and the sixth-worst record (58-72, at the start of play Monday).
Ryan Howard is getting paid $25 million to hit .222. Cliff Lee is getting the same paycheck and he's started 13 games. Looking at the wastefulness of the Phillies, it's hard to blame relief pitcher Mike Adams. He's a righty who signed a two-year contract to join the Phillies before the 2013 season for $13 million (with an option for a third season). Yet Adams, 37, is the one who's apologetic for "stealing" money from the team.
Adams has been injured much of the past two seasons with chronic shoulder issues, making just 47 total appearances in 2013 and 2014. Because of that, he feels guilty and told Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly on Monday:
“When I signed here two years ago, I expected a lot more than what I've done,” Adams said. “There probably isn't anyone more disappointed by the situation than myself. I proclaimed it would be a good three-year deal, and obviously it hasn't worked out that way. I said I didn't want to steal money, and that's exactly what happened.”
Stealing money?!? It's nice that he thinks that. It wins Adams points with Everyday Joes and Janes around the country who scoff at how much money pro athletes make. But in the context of the Phillies and Major League Baseball as a whole, Adams hardly registers as much of a "thief."
Johan Santana made $25.5 million last season from the New York Mets and didn't throw a single pitch because of injuries. Prince Fielder is making $24 million this season and played in just 42 games for the Texas Rangers.
Sure, Adams didn't get as much use as he or the Phillies hoped when he signed, but 47 appearance in two seasons is at least something. Relief pitchers on the high end appear in about 70-80 games per year. Adams still has hope that he'll pitch again this season to add to his total. He's being assigned to Triple-A this week for rehab work. He hopes to join the Phillies again in September.
Whether he does or not isn't relevant much to whether Adams swindled his team. Because when you're playing for the 2014 Phillies, it's actually quite hard to look like the biggest waste of money.

A little honesty from Giancarlo -
Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports has a report about Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins. A report that may make folks in Miami a tad upset while warming the hearts of the folks in Boston and anywhere else where the local team is willing to spend nine figures on top talent.
He recounts how the Marlins, despite multiple teardowns, fan apathy and the expectation by some that they’d lose a LOT of games this year, are still very much in the playoff hunt. Then he asked Stanton whether the changed vibe in Miami has him thinking he’d like to stay around for the long haul:
The question was whether the events of this season had altered his top-down view of the organization. He’d raised his eyes, thinking.
“Five months,” he said, “doesn’t change five years.” Stanton is a free agent in two years and he’s going to have a couple of hefty arbitration awards before then. Jeff Loria has never shown that he’ll commit to a large payroll or even a top-of-the-market contract for a top-of-the-market player. Stanton is well aware of this and one has to assume he’s not eager to sign a big contract only to see his team’s owner gut the franchise around him.
If I’m Stanton, I wait and see too.

This is just too freaky not to share -
Cooking apparently can be deadly, especially when one of the ingredients can, and does, fight back.
A chef who was mixing up a spitting cobra soup dish was killed with the decapitated head from the snake bit him - 20 minutes after it was removed from the snake's body, the Mirror reported.
The chef had already made and served it, when he went to throw the head into the garbage. That's when it bit him, injecting him with fast acting venom.
The Mirror reported the chef died before he was able to get anti-venom in a hospital.
Restaurant patrons said they could hear screams coming from the kitchen, the Daily Mail reported.
After they found out that the chef had died, they had decided not to finish the meal, the Daily Mail reported.
A snake expert was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying that reptiles can function for up to an hour after being "killed." And that it is actually dead since basic body functions have stopped, but there are still reflexive actions during that time.

It has to work out eventually, doesn't it?
Another game, another batch of turf replacement.
For the second time in as many weeks, the 49ers are replacing the turf at the brand new Levi's Stadium. The organization originally tore up the first set of sod following the preseason opener against the Broncos.
Now, following their second home preseason game, a 21-7 win over the Chargers, the field is once again being torn up.
The team expects that the new sod will help lay a foundation of turf that will be able to grow and tolerate wear and tear when the regular season begins. From the Mercury News:
The Niners expect to start installing a brand-new field this weekend, and it may include a different type of grass more commonly used at other NFL stadiums. The field is expected to be ready for the Sept. 6 soccer match between Chile and Mexico and the 49ers regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 14.
The thicker-cut field installed two days before Sunday's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers was meant as a temporary solution because the sod cannot generate the deep roots needed for long-term use.
Now, team officials are also removing and making undisclosed "tweaks" to part of the sand base below the turf, and are ripping out the entire 2.5-acre playing surface, including the sidelines and the area behind the endzones, which had not previously been replaced.
According to the report, the original playing surface had a budget of $1.4 million, and while the cost of the new field is unclear, the team announced that they will pay for it, not the Santa Clara Stadium Authority, which paid for most of the construction.
