30 years ago today, Boston outfielder Dwight Evans becomes the first player to hit the first pitch of the season for a home run when he goes deep on Opening Day. Jack Morris throws the gopher ball, but gets the win when Detroit edges the Red Sox at Tiger Stadium, 6-5. That was awesome. And almost a sign of great things to come. Almost.

14 years ago today, MLB got "mic'ed up"
ESPN becomes the first network to ask players, coaches, and umpires to wear a microphone during a game. The innovative concept begins when A’s catcher Ramon Hernandez is wired during the nationally televised Sunday night contest, a 6-5 Oakland victory over Seattle at Safeco Field

Would give up the "jacks" but invariably hang in there long enough to pick up the "W".

Almost. until game six...I always rooted for the Sox when they weren't playing the Tigers. I still remember the last three innings of that game like it was yesterday. I remember who I was with, where we were watching from, what I was drinking, all of it. Even the scoreboard at Shea "congratulating" the Red Sox.

Interesting article on life in the minor leagues. athletewealth.com/whattoexpect/I thought it was a great insight as to what to expect, once one gets drafted.

A lot of science at play that the Dominican mingo is too dumb to comprehend.
