To post a picture or GIF click the image tab. You need to erase the "http" that shows up then paste in the URL. I think that's the prob... I think BigD is posting the link to the article in the image tab instead of posting the link to the image itself. New idea. Trying again.

The problem I see is that I am dealing in web site addresses, where the image thing is dealing in image URL's. I can see they are 2 different things, but, I don;t know the difference, or how to overcome the issue. Not a biggie, but I would like to figure this out eventually.

Not the best way for the Dodgers to start off this baseball day -
Austin Jackson tripled to deep right center. Ian Kinsler singled to shallow left center, Austin Jackson scored.

I'm not sure the Dodgers have to even worry anymore as long as they play decent baseball. Giants are in a tailspin without a steering wheel right now.

Which makes it odd, in that I am not hearing much locally about them even thinking about jumping in the free agent chase. I am hearing that Scutaro is getting close, which will then help their 2B situation, but, it not the answer to get them over the hump.

I think the reason why is that the Giants are at or around their max payroll (that they feel comfortable with). There are some contracts expiring at the end of this season who will either need to be resigned or replaced (Pablo, Morse, Vogelsong as the most notable). I think the Giants know that their best chance at competing with the Dodgers is through the draft, developing youngsters and making shrewd long term trades and FA signings. By trading for a rental who most likely won't resign, they know they forfeit young, controllable talent for somebody who won't be back next year. That's a lot of risk, when you know your primary enemy has deeper pockets to dig themselves out of mistakes. I agree, at this point Scutaro isn't the answer.....then again, I didn't think he was the answer in 2012. So I'm willing to be pleasant surprised.

Sounds like they have a solid plan then, and, it makes sense to me. They are going to give this year their best go with what they have, and hope to improve moving forward. It may cost them their even years championship, but it would be the best way to go for their future.

Something you may have missed Filo -
Angel Hernandez, widely considered to be one of Major League Baseball’s worst umpires, had home plate duties in last night’s Giants-Athletics game. And he was pretty much Angel Hernandez.
Based on the tweets, comments and blog posts of folks who watched the game, Hernandez had his typically inconsistent and wide-to-the-right-side strike zone, causing pitchers and hitters from both teams to shake their heads in frustration. Then Hernandez went to his signature move, turning a merely poorly-umped game into a game with an umpire-player confrontation.
Hernandez called an extremely questionable balk on Jean Machi in the eighth inning. Machi was upset and started yelling at Hernandez. Catcher Buster Posey attempted to get between them and calm the situation, only to have Hernandez yell, “Don’t push me” at Posey, as if Posey were actually trying to escalate, rather than defuse the situation. Bruce Bochy argued for a long time, using a lot of colorful language, but did not get tossed. Which, oftentimes, is the sign of an umpire who actually realized he messed up and is letting someone blow off steam.
After the game, Giants announcer Duane Kuiper was unusually frank but 100% honest in his assessment of Hernandez, saying “Angel Hernandez is not a good umpire and, in my opinion, he does not belong in the big leagues. And I think Major League Baseball knows this, they just don’t know how to get rid of him.”
He’s correct about that. Perhaps if more people closer to the game such as broadcasters and influential folks in the media were more willing to say this as frankly as Kuiper did, Major League Baseball would do something about it.

Well, the Sox ARE doing something. They just kicked Pierzynski to the curb today.

Well, the Sox ARE doing something. They just kicked Pierzynski to the curb today. Surprising move. Normally with a name like this the team would stick it out for the whole year. Matt Kemp now 0-21 with 7 strikeouts against Max Scherzer.

If it was anyone other than ortiz, this would be laughable. However, he seems to have an answer or opinion on just about everything, so, this is not just possible, but likely in my eyes. Whether or not any grumblings become public though is another thing. For him to play out his career anywhere else but Boston would be a crime against baseball. Just because he may want out, it does not mean he gets out. His bed in Boston is long made. He should just get comfortable and used to it, and, if he does not like what is going on there, he should take action to make it better, or quit.

BigD I've been fighting the good fight against the trolls in the main thread. In your objective opinion does Lackey have trade value - i.e. the ability to get back an impact prospect or two?

Well,.............. He should bring back value in return. I am just not sure on how much. And, I would think that going the prospect route would actually net them less in return vs. if they were to target someone in the bigs already. Any team willing to give a top prospect or 2 for him is in WIN NOW mode, and, I just don;t see any team mortgaging the next few years of their future for just a few more months of a solid and unspectacular # 3 starter.

Lets see about this one. <img alt=" " src="http://www.zimbio.com/pictures/0wp__bEmk6K/Los+Angeles+Dodgers+v+San+Francisco+Giants/d0VPZUHHq9R/Clayton+Kershaw" style="max-width: 100%;"> I cant open the site cause its blocked at work but looks like this is what you posted. This is not an img file, if it was it would end with a .jpg, .gif or something of that sort.

This is not good at all -
Prized Yankees hurler Masahiro Tanaka is set to undergo an MRI on his right arm, reports George A. King III of the New York Post. He has recently worked through two rough starts. After his most recent outing, he reported “a little discomfort,” according to a tweet from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
