As much as I dislike the two teams I had to watch the game. Early in the third period, I started thinking about the posts I was going to write today, needling you because the Leafs won. Then the new Leafs turned into the Leafs of old and it was all over. |

I gotta admit when the Caps scored to start the third period I though it was over. Then the Caps started channeling the Maple Leafs and gave up 3 goals in the third. I still don't think the Pens are going to win the series though. |

Did you see any of the Vegas game or was it too late for you? Looked good last night, but we'll see if the Pens can keep it up. The Vegas game was past my bed time. I heard about the game though. 7 - 0 is a bad way to start. Vegas is a speed team and in the Cup finals a couple years ago the Sharks couldn't handle the speed of the Pens. I also heard that the Flower wasn't too bad either. I'm thinking either Vegas and the Pens or Vegas and Tampa would be a heckova Cup final. |

Two things have the Pens fans hopping mad. First is Wilson's hit on Dumolin.
There will be no discipline on Wilson for the hit. The league said that since Dumolin moved Wilson wasn't at fault. There was no penalty on the play. I was worried that the league would fine Dumolin for his brutal hit on Wilson's elbow with his face.

The other thing that has Pens fans livid is the no goal call. NBC showed the replay and the puck can clearly be seen to be across the goal line, yet they ruled no goal in To***to. Prompting a revised goal line drawing.  |

Well, two more games and I have the rest of the summer to myself. There were a lot of things wrong with the Caps/Pens game tonight, but the biggest thing was that the Pens just weren't skating. Maybe they're tired, maybe they're satisfied with winning back to back championships. I don't know, but it doesn't look like their hearts are in it. Some Pens fans are suggesting putting Kessel's picture on a milk carton.

I guess you have the Toronto Kessel right now and that's not good.  The Preds/Jets game was of the charts awesome. Absolutely everything you could want in a hockey game. |

Wilson with his second questionable hit of this series. Trotz said it was "shoulder to shoulder" contact, despite the fact Aston Reese suffered a broken jaw.
After reviewing the tape, the League has decided to fine Aston Reese for bleeding on the ice. He will receive a one game suspension because he threw his glove at the Capitals bench. NBC also showed Wilson on the bench being congratulated and laughing about the hit while Aston Reese was still laid out on the ice.

How about that? They gave Wilson a 3 game suspension. I've got to believe the suspension was a cumulative penalty for Aston Reese, Dumolin and maybe a couple others.

That and the fact that Aston Reese is going to need surgery to put his jaw back together and he got a fairly severe concussion. I also think that the League was a little embarrassed by not taking any action on the hit on Dumolin. In my mind that one was the dirtier hit. |
