I heard that the Lerner's went over Mike Rizzo's head to sign Wieters...This apparently isn't the first time this sort of thing happened with a Boras client that made it to the Nats, they did the same thing when they signed Rafael Soriano...
Wow...

Wow... It probably wasn't hard to get over Rizzo's head......because he is still bent over the log that Rick Hahn assfucked him on in the Eaton deal.

It went from "We don't have the funds to improve the bullpen as much due to cost overruns on the spring training complex" to "Here's $10M for a catcher that we really didn't need and we'll throw in an option of $11M for next season. We still don't have the money for upgrading the bullpen. One of those guys can step up into the closers role."
Wieters had better be a beast....

Robertson is going to close for Team USA in the WBC. I think he is the only one still available. The only reason that deal isn't done yet is probably because Rizzo is too sore still.

75 games in 2015........26 games in 2014
2013: .235/.287/.417 in the last season he played where he didn't get hurt. 148 games
when exactly has he ever been a beast?

Nope, last I heard was an open competition between Shawn Kelly, Koda Glover and Blake Treinin. I heard a Robertson deal was still a possibility since they want Pedro Severino...And since the Nats have 4 catchers now, they won't mind as much letting Severino go...

Nobody else seemed to want to pay Wieters. The 2nd year was completely unnecessary. Once they missed on Sale they seemed to panic and failed to do anything that they wanted to do when the offseason began.

I don't think the Nats really wanted to pay Wieters...It obviously wasn't a position that needed to be made a priority over the bullpen, but it happened... I don't like what they gave up for Eaton, who really knows how those prospects turn out, but I love the idea of Eaton and Trea Turner leading the lineup with all of that speed on the base paths with Hits and Harper coming in behind them...

Fuck you. If it makes you feel any better, Fangraphs has him at 1.7 WAR last year, based on his defense obviously. -7.2/+8.2 O/D. So he was still enough use defensively to be 1.7 games better than shitbum replacement catcher.

I'm not sure what all of his injury problems were...but he has logged a lot of games behind the plate......Hopefully, all those injury problems go away now that he has hit his 30s. That's usually how it works.

The Nats actually needed the bat last year from the catcher position, but they shouldn't need it as much this year with a return to form for Harper and Rendon getting back to MVP-caliber hitting...

Yeah. I don't think anyone really wanted Wieters. They were bidding against themselves. They went into the Winter looking for a closer and a top-tier starter and ended up with an outfielder and 7 catchers. Weird.
