ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer ultimately expects Dallas to release Tony Romo this offseason.
While trading Romo is the Cowboys' "No. 1 priority," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it could be difficult for Dallas to find the compensation it desires when teams already know the Cowboys don't want him. Archer expects there to be "too many hoops to jump through" to pull off a trade, and the biggest one in particular will be how to swallow the massive $24.7 million cap hit. By designating Romo as a post-June 1 cut, the Cowboys could spread the cap hit out over the next two years and clear $14 million in 2017, allowing them resources to upgrade the defense.

I just heard an interesting bit of conversation father on the radio. For the sake of discussion let's say the Cowboys believe that Tony Romo has a few good years left in them and they choose to trade Dak Prescott because he would return such a bigger hole. What trades make sense in that scenario to make the value worth it for the Cowboys?
Thinking at a minimum it has to be a high first-round draft pick and a cost controlled young player who can step in immediately for their defense and make an impact.

I don't think it ever makes it worth it.......but to play along.... I'd start the bidding at 2017,18,19 first and a player.

I mean you would really have to think the Tony Romo has absolutely nothing left in the deck Prescott is the absolute bees knees to think that that's what it would take for Dallas to trade him.

My love of him is well documented on this site before the draft, during the draft and in August. I love Dak Prescott. In terms of Romo.....I also like him........but his health is everything. I don't trust him being healthy at all. And the Cowboys window is so large.......it's not like they are in a position to win it this year and that's it. On the other hand, Denver is kinda in that position.........with Dak, they are next to; if not better than NE.

Trade him to the right team and you can draft Romo's replacement early, and let him sit for a year or two. or until september when Romo gets hurt again Fuck it. I think you have to trade Romo
