Another outstanding start for Jason Hammel who has very quietly entered the CY race in the NL. Hard to believe the Cubs suck so bad when they have a top of the rotation one-two punch like Samardzija and Hammels.

Another outstanding start for Jason Hammel who has very quietly entered the CY race in the NL. Hard to believe the Cubs suck so bad when they have a top of the rotation one-two punch like Samardzija and Hammels. Well, they can't seem to get more than 2 guys hitting at the same time it seems. That, and they are not so hot with the glove...... They will do better, when both join better teams for the stretch run....

That, and they are not so hot with the glove...... They will do better, when both join better teams for the stretch run.... I think I've started wishin' & hopin' that Samardzija ends up in SF after Timmy is relegated back to the bullpen for the season.

Then you look at their lineup's stats (their non-pitchers are batting .236/.307/.373 and rank 12 in the NL in runs). Only 3 Cubs players have an OPS+ north of 100 (Rizzo (140), Castro (103), and Valbuena (126).
