I have been and will probably always be a proponent of letting a rookie QB sit and learn for a year or two. The pro game is so different from the college game in speed and size that it just makes sense for a young guy who is expected to be the face of a franchise to adjust and hone his skills. And the league is littered with guys who's careers were ruined by getting thrown to the wolves too soon.
But... there are always exceptions. And it's clear Dak and Wentz are perfect examples. The way they approach the game is just so damn impressive - The game isn't too big for either of them. Their decision making and execution on the field is just so damned poised. Once the Iggles get some receivers who can hold on to the ball and a legitimate running game (i.e.; exorcise the Chip factor), they are going to be trouble for everyone. Wentz is the real deal and deserved to be picked where he was.
And - Dak... a friggin' 4th round Compensatory pick. All of my MSU buddies (including one Redskins fan who is still pissed) said the same thing after the draft - he's the real deal. Well, he is in every sense of the word. He has checked off every item you want in a QB and that 97 yard drive yesterday was career defining. But what I've noticed most is the one thing those spare-assed "backups" from last year couldn't ever seem to execute. It's what happened when defenses would load the box and dare them to throw. Almost exclusively, they would end up throwing the ball out of bounds, at a WR's feet or get picked. Dak almost always finds the right one-on-one match up with either Witten or Beasley... or Butler (if the dude would quit dropping easy catches - looks like a Iggles WR). It helps to have a running game but those guys last year in the 2nd half had one (DMF was actually not bad) but when the other team dares you to throw, you have to make them pay. That's where Dak has been the most impressive to me. He makes them pay dearly.
Goff and Lynch may yet prove to be everything they were thought to be in the next couple of years. But right now, Philly and Dallas are leading the pack on this one.

Work ethic and the want to be the best. I know it sounds cliche but it is why Wilson has passed all those QB's that just about everyone had ranked ahead of him after the 2012 season RG3 and Kaep were not film room junkies they both were more concerned with looking good than playing good. I had Dak as my 4th QB in the draft (see Mock 2.0) and that is before I heard about his work ethic/attitude

The example from the SI article where he had a chance to see Kanye West for free but decided it got in the way of his rest and prep for the Bears game was one of those refreshing "aha" moments where it looks at first glance like "he gets it".

"I have been and will probably always be a proponent of letting a rookie QB sit and learn for a year or two."- Otis I didn't feel like editing the quote box. Same. I have no problem with a team drafting a QB #1 overall and then red shirting him his rookie year like the Rams are doing with Goff. Although it sure as hell looks bad on Goff when two QBs selected after him are playing so well. No pressure on him this season. But next year...

Last thing you want your future of the franchise to have is Joey Harrington syndrome where their confidence is eroded to the point that they don't progress they recess
