I have just one question before I begin. Do you want our favorites? Or do you want what we feel are truly the best films? There could be a big difference in the lists.

I agree it can make a difference. But I want people to do whichever way they want. I actually did a middle ground. My favorites of what I think are the best films. For example, Schindler's List is amazingly well made, but I never want to watch it again. I think Super Troopers is funny as hell, and watch it all the time, but it's not a well-made film. Either way, tackle it however you want, that's what will make it fun!

Yous guys iz movie snobs. Ya'lls worry way too much about artistic value/critic reviews and you don't put any value on good old fashioned American entertainment. Raiders of the Lost Arc should be on everyone's list. And Animal House. And Up in Smoke. Young Frankenstein. Harold and whathisface Go To White Castle. Stripes. Caddy Shack. Boys In The Hood. Blazing Saddles. Silverado. The Outlaw Josey Wales. Dances With Wolves. The Postman. The Santa Clause. Elf. How To Train Your Dragon. The Incredibles. Monsters, Inc. Ice Age.
If it wins a Critic's Choice Award then it probably sucks for pure entertainment value. But at least you will be able to tell your high falutin friends that you have great artistic taste.

Oh yeah, Winter's Bone. Jennifer Lawrence before she was Jennifer Lawrence, but easily her best flick.

I could give a flying fuck less about artistic or cultural value. None of my nominations will make the cut. But, I'll keep tabs and see how the brackets competition goes.

Sorry LoC, don't know enough about years of movies. Can I just do my top 30? post your 30 and I'll sort them and then you can filter them if needed (say you listed 12 from old days, 6 from middle days, and 12 from modern,---- Id cut you at 6,6,6 ) seems fair enough to me

With all due respect You couldn't be more wrong, Self. Not 5 minutes ago, before I even saw your post,I was thinking to myself: "Self, just go with your favorite movies, not the "Critic's choices"...If I watch a movie I want to be entertained. That's it. Hell "Ted" is gonna be on my list and that was a pile of crap!
