Why now? The Sixers have sucked for 20 years. they have INTENTIONALLY sucked now for 5 years or more, INTENTIONALLY. I get it, i was down But at some fucking point, you have to try to play the games they just dont care, why should i give a fuck Good explanation. I'd be frustrated, too.

Could be... If the Lakers don't get a top 3 pick, their pick goes to the Sixers....So, the Sixers could have two top 6 picks to spend on big guys that will never amount to much of anything while with the team....Or they could trade the picks for an established vet... Pffffft. Like the NBA would ever let the Lakers not get the #1 pick. The league is going to be falling over itself to help the Lakers get back to being a contender. As evidenced by the Chris Paul trade

As evidenced by the Chris Paul trade That was when they still had Kobe. No marquee names = problem for the team and consequently the league.

The Cavs picking up Williams is so under the radar. Such a hipster move.

So someone refresh me on the NBA waiver. Team gets player A in a trade and then waives him. Don't the teams with shitty ( on a scale to good) records get waiver priority? How is it that guys like Williams and Bogut get to choose which teams they play for without, like in baseball, having other teams put in claims for them?

There is no waivers in the nba There is but 99.9% of the time, they let the guy go unclaimed. A) To lessen the salary, which is why he is most likely there. and b) Because players in the NBA have power, unlike other sports....so teams know a player won't play for them and won't claim them. That's been my understanding of it.

So when CBS says "The 32-year-old officially signed with the Cavs on Monday after being waived by the Mavericks", they really mean the Mavericks released him.

If so what's the advantage of waiving him? Is there some setoff for whatever Player A signs for with the Cavalier (or whoever)?

If so what's the advantage of waiving him? Is there some setoff for whatever Player A signs for with the Cavalier (or whoever)? I gotta look up the rules at this point. NBA teams can release a player to the waiver wire, where he can stay for 48 hours (during the regular season). While he is on waivers, other teams may claim him, for his existing salary. If he is not claimed, he is said to have "cleared waivers", and is treated like any free agent, able to sign with any team (with the special restriction noted above for players who were traded and then waived). Players waived after March 1 are not eligible to be on a team's playoff roster. --------- I am assuming for no certain reason that if a player is waived and goes unclaimed the team pays the salary.

Lol, Marcus Smart gets elbowed in the jaw and he gets called for the foul... Total joke. Horford gets a review for an "elbow" on the kick out in the 2nd quarter. Smart gets elbowed in the fucking jaw and gets the foul called on him.
