Girardi is trying to lose this game. Go to Betances for a 4 out save and call it a night

Betances threw 22 pitches the last 2 days. Why the heck would you not put him out there for a 4 out save?

If the Yankees can win tonight or even lose but not lose ground to the O's tonight, I love their chances to make things really interesting over the weekend. 4 game home set vs Tampa while the O's head to Detroit

Have you guy heard about the Yankees Levine and Hal should kiss Cashman's ass for overruling them, and selling at the deadline. This team will be so much the better for moving now and not procrastinating. I do believe they should have kept Andrew Miller because that contract was real team friendly (is it any wonder the Indians got him?). Unless they simply intend on signing Chapman as a free agent after the season. But the Cubs can afford to keep Chapman and I think they will. What useful purpose did A Rod and even Beltran have looking toward the future? I recommend they send Gardner, Ellsbury and particularly mega bust Chase Headley packing for whatever they can get ASAP.

Dirt told me that Hal controls what Cashman does and ordered Cashman to proceed with all the shitty moves the Yankees have made over the years including, signing Arod to the extension, signing CC to the extension, signing Ellsbury, trading Prado and Phelps for Eovaldi, etc.

I think the overwhelming feeling is that Miller is the one guy Yankee fans regret seeing go...Problem there is, out of all the moves, the Miller deal by far brought back the best package, so its hard for me to hate it
I think signing Chapman will be very wise, Id expect them to be very active in those talks...Betances is simply not cut out to be a closer, for whatever mental block he has going on
Ellsbury would be untradeable, as if Headley....I do think they pick up the bulk on McCann and send him to Atlanta, that's a guy they really have no more use for......Gardner I could see as fairly tradeable, I wouldn't be shocked if that happened, but than again, they really wont go in a total youth rebuild, so Gardner may be the type of veteran theyd like to keep around
Im actually not against making Beltran the full time DH next season, on strictly a one year deal, which I believe at this point, he would be agreeable to

He deserves his fair share of criticism for some signings, but when you are a big market club, getting locked up into deals that look ugly on the back end, is the cost of doing business.....Just look at any big market club

Ellsbury is surprising to me. I thought he would be a better player than he has been there. One thing you said that I agree with is about Betances. He's like Chapman Light, but surprisingly is turning out to be one of those guys with great stuff that cannot handle the closer role. They did do well with the haul in the Miller trade i.m.o. so that is a positive. I think if Beltran wants to come back on the cheap, that may be cool. Sanchez has made McCann expendable and I am sure the Braves do have something that will make it palatable to deal him.

Have a feeling he's running into an angry buzz saw tonight

They failed 9 times including the last 7. 2 of 3 isn't good enough. Get the sweep.

Yup, I knew it was something like that No Dellin, no Warren They need to hit the awful Stroman, but the lineup he has out there looks turrible

"Never give up on hard throwing lefthanders while they are still south of 30." - E.G. "Buzzy" Bavasi, Dodgers GM 1960-1968. Not sure he said it, but he never gave up on that guy who struggled with control for his first six major league seasons before catching fire and winding up in the Hall. Smyly ain't going to no Hall except the ones in his residence and anywhere else there is a long narrow walkway, but the point is my redundancy... Never give up on hard throwing left handers, especially those south of 30.
