They played with a sense of desperation. Take away Kessel's goal on Murray for Tampa's first goal and then Cullen interferes with Murray for the second goal and Tampa really wasn't in the game.
The refs were "letting them play" in the third. Well not really. They were letting Tampa play in the third. Pittsburgh couldn't play because they were getting hooked, hacked and tackled.

Meanwhile, the Allen Americans are once again in the Kelly Cup finals trying to repeat as ECHL champions...
Against the hated Wheeling Nailers!

Against the hated Wheeling Nailers!Pretty bad when you can't even make it in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Hey now, most of the Nailers probably played for Wilkes-Barre at some point during the season. That's because most of the Wilkes-Barre team played for Pittsburgh at some point during the season. Wilkes-Barre was doing well against Hershey until the Pens eliminated the Caps. All of the call ups went back to Hershey and the Pens couldn't beat them. The Baby Pens were stuck using the Wheeling goalie when Murray went up and Jarry got hurt. A lot of depth in the Pittsburgh organization despite Rutherford trading draft picks away. By the way, I had it wrong. Hershey beat the Marlies twice in Hershey. The series goes back to Toronto for 3 games. I'm picking the Bears in 5 and another participation trophy for Toronto.

In case you missed it. Watch around the 2:06 mark when Kessel scores his second goal of the night. This one was on Murray. You can take the kid out of Toronto, but you can't take the Toronto out of the kid.

Bet you're biting your nails about now bf I was dying a slow death most of the third period. Right now I'm sipping a large shot of whiskey so I'll be able to get some sleep tonight. I'll bet Canuck was loving this one. That third period was wide open, end to end, balls to the walls hockey. If the Pens weren't playing I would have been loving it too. Four more wins and Sid lifts the Cup.
