I was under the impression that the COBB movie was a fairly realistic account of his life. Now... maybe not so much.

still reading but this is nuts
He still holds the record for stealing home, doing so 54 times. He once stole second, third, and home on three consecutive pitches, and another time turned a tap back to the pitcher into an inside-the-park home run.

I always bristle when I hear one-sided stories about anyone.
This article clearly illustrates the folly of painting with such broad brush strokes.
Cobb was a self-made man financially, investing in stocks that made him millions.
One thing that I had known for years is how Cobb looked after many baseball players who were down on their luck, had turned into drunks and blown the money that they had earned. One particular example is Mickey Cochrane. Cobb not only bought new suits for him, but spent thousands of dollars helping him out. Not to mention just spending a lot of quality time just being with him and being his advocate.
